If this hasn't been reported already, the gear light in the "far" position is basically shining into the ground..see pic

I believe those are the landing lights, and are like that on the real aircraft.

When you approach with 10° AoA, they then give your more distance.

I might be wrong though.

rly?..mhmh..but it seems to be way too the left. It used to be centered. Maybe it is a new feature to blind the LSO on landing.

Yes it is the same in the Su-27. Because of the AoA when landing, the pilot looks to the left to see his height since the runway straight ahead is masked by the plane’s nose / EOS.

:) I think you'll find that, if landing on a runway, that landing light, positioned as it is, gives you excellent depth perception at night for the final flare and touchdown, assuming you sight down the left side of your nose:
