Nealius Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 I had a rare crash, first time ever in the past year. I was flying the Harrier for a while, tanked up, flew a bit more and headed back to base. On the return trip my performance suddenly tanked. I checked Task Manager and found MsMpEng.exe (Windows Defender crap) active. I just lived with it and tried to continue my landing. As soon as my main gear touched the tarmac, DCS froze. Ctl+Alt+Del did not respond. I could not bring up the task manager to kill the program, and had to do a hard reboot of my computer. On reboot, I noticed my computer said it was configuring updates, and it seems that Windows Defender did an update today. The Windows event viewer didn't show anything at all at the time that the crash occurred, only "unexpected restart at 8:47pm" and another event saying that Windows defender had been updated at 9:12pm (the time my computer booted back up). My DCS log file doesn't appear to show anything weird, but I'll attach it just in case. I don't think Defender auto updates can be disabled, so this seems like it's going to be a huge pain in the ass in the future if it keeps updating while I fly....
