Alpenwolf Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Was in the mission editor in DCS 2.5 OB finalising the briefing before adding the mission to the server. Once I was done I hit "save" then BOOM!... My screen went blue, some writings showed up and 3-4 seconds later my computer restarted and now I'm here. Everything looks fine except for the mission's file. The file is there on my desktop but I can't see it among the other missions in the mission editor. I can't open it either. Just please don't tell me I'll have to recreate the mission. Took me a while to do that... 71st_AH Rob Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 If you cant see it, check the file extension and make sure it is still .miz and not something else. This happened to me once and windows had changed it to .zip or txt can't remember
Alpenwolf Posted February 15, 2018 Author Posted February 15, 2018 It's still a .miz file actually of 280 kb. It's right there among other .miz missions. But once I'm in the mission editor I can't see the file. I can't open the file with any tool either. I think it's permanently damaged. Directory index of HDD may be corrupted due to the blue screen of death, as a minimum run scandisk on hard drive and have it check for errors. (Will take a while depending on size and speed of HDD) Don't run DCS again, if you had run the mission just before the crash, as you may be able to rescue the mission from the TEMP directory. Grab files from the default windows TEMP storage area: To open the temp folder, click Start or go to the Windows 8 Search charm, type %temp%, and select the folder that appears. ie: d:\[Temp Storage]\DCS.openbeta\LastMissionTrack.trk , rename to with .miz extension and copy to your missions directory. or d:\[Temp Storage]\DCS.openbeta\tempMission.miz, rename and copy to your missions directory.
