noisy_lightning Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 Not sure if this is known or not but there seems to be an image alignment issue with the FLIR and actual objects. In the screenshot I am using the Helmet Mounted NVG and the FLIR and as you can see there is a ghost plane below the actual KC130.
razo+r Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 That's because the FLIR sensor is not positioned on your head but a bit infront and below your head outside the cockpit.
Deano87 Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 (edited) Even so, there is maybe a 2ft vertical distance between your eye point and the sensor, that distance would cause about 1 degree of angular difference at 100ft, 0.1 degree at 1000ft. This is way less than what we see in the HUD. I'm guessing the FLIR projection in the HUD is not quite placed correctly or the FLIR sensor on the aircraft needs to be angled differently. Or possibly a combination of both. It would only cause big differences like we see in sim when the object is much closer to the FLIR sensor. :bounce: Edited February 21, 2018 by Deano87 Proud owner of: PointCTRL VR : Finger Trackers for VR -- Real Simulator : FSSB R3L Force Sensing Stick. -- Deltasim : Force Sensor WH Slew Upgrade -- Mach3Ti Ring : Real Flown Mach 3 SR-71 Titanium, made into an amazing ring.
