Haukka81 Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 Syrian SU22. Was then hit by AIM120. https://youtu.be/P6k-E3Kjg1o Even new Aim-9x is not 100% kill weapon. Oculus CV1, Odyssey, Pimax 5k+ (i5 8400, 24gb ddr4 3000mhz, 1080Ti OC ) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
dimitrischal Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 Just another internet myth. To paraphrase the pilot "The missile went off the rail, I tried to follow the smoke trail but lost sight of it, after that I have no idea what happened to it." Most likely it was a simple malfunction. Whatever happened to it we don’t know. With that reasoning it could have as well been spoofed by flares. Also the 9x motor is practically smokeless. Funny how in the released test videos inert missiles score contact kills and in real combat the first one fails. However as I said I was being ironic.
GGTharos Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 The first one destroyed its target. Turkish F-16 vs Russian Su-24. Drona Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 Surely, if that Su-24 had to release flares, that AIM9X would've gone after the flares ;) LOL, couldn't help myself there
ZHeN Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 The first one destroyed its target. Turkish F-16 vs Russian Su-24. u sure it was an "x" ? not "m" ? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GGTharos Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 u sure it was an "x" ? not "m" ? Yes, it was an X. The one that failed later (vs Su-22) probably had a fin failure. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
GGTharos Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 For the first, there are reports written and I believe public (then were also Turkish newspaper articles which names the missile) For the second, that's an educated guess from missile operators ... fin failures happen and are not uncommon (fin falls off, missile isn't able to guide). How do u know all that? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
*Rage* Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Mostly conjecture then? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22
GGTharos Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Educated guesses by operators have a bit more weight than just a pure guess. As far as malfunctions go, it seems to be a common one.
