Introduce a Excavator

Hi guys ...

 

What I want to say is that I'm keen on is making a comersial movie about our product. Just a idea that I want to test ... So what I want to have is a excavator. I have been searching the web how to implement a new object into lockon. The only solution is to replace a existing one.

 

 

 

The next move was .. how could it be done ???

 

 

 

It wasn't easy to find how to do that ... (The info is there some where but where ??)

The problem is now to make the uv mapping of the excavator so I can try to make a skinn.

 

The excavator it self is made in Solid Edge.

 

So ... Is anyone of your 3DS artist intressted of be part of this??

 

This 3d studio will be to much for me .. I'm at the moment looking att video turtorial on 3DS .. but it seems to be alot of testing to get used to the program...

at the bottom is the 6 different sizes we have at the moment.

 

Anyway .. I want to make a little movie of when some A10 is nocking out ground targets that is threating the excavator.

 

Why ???

 

The A10 will have the SMP Parts Logo .. and the threat will have our competitors .. like The company Engcon and the company Indexator that is also a manufacture op equipment to excavtors ...

 

Could be cool to show on Bauma..

Just out of interest, have you fired an email to ED about the legalities of using their product to advertise yours?

No I haven't ... I will keep that in mind if all this will resault in a movie.

 

But I think that they will not have any argument about that .. It must be best to be shown out in the public as much as possible ...

Its not necessarily a matter of argument but the fact that they may wish to be paid royalties for use of their product for commercial gain.

 

Your company intends to use the game outside of the planned 'boundaries of use' ED had anticipated for the original player.

 

 

It would definitely be a good idea to ask before you put more work into this as they may say no.

 

 

 

 

Otherwise you have a very interesting idea using a game for an advert :)

This project looks to be very hard to complete .. First this issue about ED thumbs up or thumbs down.

 

Then the skinn part .. want to put som logos on som cars etc.

 

Then this replacement of one object.

the uVmapping in 3dS could be done but then this replacement....

 

I have been searching for info about this but I haven't found any link that explain it all..

 

Just some question.

 

If I extract a .bmp out of worldtexture (LoMan Cdds browser) and put it in temptexture .. will it then override the default .bmp inside worldtexture ??

 

Does anyone know any link or something that what file inside worldtexture goes to what ..

I hope I haven't made a problem out of nothing, I just want you to realise they may want a payment i.e. don't assume this will all be free. Say the right words and you could very well do it for free, emphasise the fact that they will get public attention, etc. ;)

 

 

As for the modelling issues, I don't build models so don't know how to answer those but a member who might be of help is MBot - who has been adding models to the game recently.

Having some problem with export and import ..

 

It seems that the only way to get the machine to 3DS is throu WRML ... 3DS just keep saying .. improper file format when i try with IGES

 

What i see when I import is that the surface is not connected to each other ...

 

anyway .. here is the machine in wrml format ..
