When to use vent?

Beside the startup button is vent switch. During the start, the switch should be (according to manual) in left or right position. But when the ”vent” position should be used? What about during flight?

From what I understand, vent is for failed or aborted start-up, to vent the heat and prevent fire or over-heat inside the engine.

After failed start up, unburnt fuel may be left in the engine.

When you finally start, the left fuel will burn, you will have giant flame going out of the exhaust, and you may "over-temp".

You are correct, "vent" means wind but in this context I think it means "ventilation" which is the same in English :).

One more question about this, sorry. When I finally shut down the engine after the mission, should I move the switch to vent position?
