Chops Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Is there a realistic time period in which the following DCS Aircraft would have been involved in a conflict at the same time? F-5E A-10C F/A-18C F-14 A/B AV-8B N/A AJS-37
RED Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 The version we have in DCS? Since A10C and F/A-18C are 2003+ the other types were greatly improved for combat at that point, too, but we have the "old" versions. Which is ok. Check out this incomplete and not researched table:
Zius Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 All the mentioned aircraft except the Saab are still in use somewhere. The Saab is also the one that is most difficult to imagine being involved in any conflict. Given the listed aircraft (and taking the F/A-18C, not the F/A-18C Lot 20), the only slightly realistic conflict involving all aircraft would a NATO vs. USSR/Russia war where Sweden would somehow also be involved. But as that would have to take place around the collapse of the USSR, such a scenario would be quite unlikely. The above table is interesting, but does not represent the absolute last out-of-service dates for the aircraft. It also depends on how strict you want to be with the exact versions. For instance, the MiG-19 / F-6 is apparently still in use in North Korea and Zambia. Modules: Bf 109, C-101, CE-II, F-5, Gazelle, Huey, Ka-50, Mi-8, MiG-15, MiG-19, MiG-21, Albatros, Viggen, Mirage 2000, Hornet, Yak-52, FC3
Lucas_From_Hell Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 The A-10C and F/A-18C we have entered service in 2005. They are by far the limiting factor here. There's some wiggle room for the Hornet, but the A-10C simply didn't exist before that. The Viggen went out that year. American Tomcats flew until 2006, but Iran still operates a fleet. Countries that operated the base-model F-5E (or similar) in 2005 are Iran, Brazil, Bahrain, Honduras, Indonesia, Jordan, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, Switzerland, Thailand, Morocco, Taiwan and Yemen. No idea on the Harrier, but I think it was flying already.
