LeCuvier Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 When I use a mission starting in the air, I can fire the rockets without a problem. But when the mission starts with take-off, the rockets won't fire. Here is what I do: 1. open the cover of the Dogfight/Resurm Search Switch and set the switch to the upper position. 2. set the corresponding armament position select switches to upper position 3. Set the external stores selector to Rockets 4. set the AN/ASG-31 switch to manual When I push the Weapon Release button a kind of TV image shows up on the right (same as when gun trigger first detent is activated), and that's it. What am I missing? Golo Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 Here is what I do: 1. open the cover of the Dogfight/Resurm Search Switch and set the switch to the upper position. There is no such switch located under cover in F-5E that I know of. There is Dogfight/Resurm Search Switch located on the stick but it is not under cover. What you are opening and setting to upper position is probably Guns/Missile, and Camera Switch which is under red cover on the armament panel. If you do this your A/G weapons wont work. Leave that switch in the middle and capped.

That's the switch I set to the up position. Re your advice: "If you do this your A/G weapons wont work. Leave that switch in the middle and capped." Will try tomorrow. LeCuvier Posted April 10, 2018 Author Posted April 10, 2018 (edited) What you are opening and setting to upper position is probably Guns/Missile, and Camera Switch which is under red cover on the armament panel. If you do this your A/G weapons wont work. Leave that switch in the middle and capped. I have tried with 2 different missions. Whether the switch "Guns, Missile & Camera" is in the upper or middle position has absolutely no effect on the (M151) rockets. It must be in the Up position for all gun use, incl. A/G. Edit: I have tried several missions now, and only one of them gave me the problem with the rockets. I've not yet found out what makes the difference. Golo Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 Interesting, I fly F-5 a lot, and that is yet to happen to me. Ill check some weapon configurations later tonight. Post track of your unsuccessful attempts to fire if you can.

Golo Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 OK, Ive tried some configurations with switches and circuit breakers last night. If you have CBs for weapons stations - WPN PWR LEFT(RIGHT) INB(OUTB) and WPN PWR CENTER LINE pulled out (they are located in front of the stick) weapons on corresponding stations wont work. Also if you have the switch for SELECT JETTISON in positions other than OFF weapons wont fire. Otherwise it always worked for me.
LeCuvier Posted April 11, 2018 Author Posted April 11, 2018 Luckily I found a copy of the mission that shows the problem. Note 1: the saved mission has no rockets. I added 2 * 19 M151 on the inner wing pods with the mission planner. Note 2: this mission starts on the ground. In this mission, a group of 4 MIG-21bis must be defeated before you can attack the 4 MLRS. I managed to survive (letting my AI wingmen do the dangerous work) and flew to the Smerchs' location after configuring my weapon controls for the rockets. I made at least 2 runs trying to fire the rockets, but they just won't fire. Only the TV picture came up when I pressed the Weapon Release button. In the end I got tired of trying and destroyed the Smerchs with the gun. I did save the track; but unfortunately when I replayed it, it showed pure nonsense. So the track is useless. I attach the mission so you can try to reproduce the problem. Don't forget to add the rockets in Mission Planner!F-5E vs Mig-21bis Furball_Test.miz LeCuvier Windows 10 Pro 64Bit | i7-4790 CPU |16 GB RAM|SSD System Disk|SSD Gaming Disk| MSI GTX-1080 Gaming 8 GB| Acer XB270HU | TM Warthog HOTAS | VKB Gladiator Pro | MongoosT-50 | MFG Crosswind Pedals | TrackIR 5
Golo Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 All weapons work fine in the mission for me. One thing I remembered fighting those 21s though. Before engaging ground targets after A/A engagement be sure you are not in DM/DG modes (deselect the modes by pressing return to search). If so and attacking ground targets you would even fire your AIM-9 missiles if you still had them on, or not fire at all. Might be what troubles you, might not, but if properly configured all weapons work fine for me.
LeCuvier Posted April 14, 2018 Author Posted April 14, 2018 Before engaging ground targets after A/A engagement be sure you are not in DM/DG modes (deselect the modes by pressing return to search). I might have made that mistake. Will try. Thanks Golo! LeCuvier Posted April 14, 2018 Author Posted April 14, 2018 it's getting worse. Now, I can't even fire missiles any more. And when I enable gun and missiles, the grumble of the AIM-9 starts with a significant delay. I thing the module is broken. I ran a repair, but without effect. Maybe I should delete the files in the ...\Bin folder and run a repair again? LeCuvier Posted April 15, 2018 Author Posted April 15, 2018 It's solved. There was a serious cockup in control bindings. I cleaned that all up, and now it's working as expected- LeCuvier Windows 10 Pro 64Bit | i7-4790 CPU |16 GB RAM|SSD System Disk|SSD Gaming Disk| MSI GTX-1080 Gaming 8 GB| Acer XB270HU | TM Warthog HOTAS | VKB Gladiator Pro | MongoosT-50 | MFG Crosswind Pedals | TrackIR 5
