Charlie-1 Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 This is really disappointing having upgraded on the premise of improved memory and offline play to find deferred shading now compulsory and HDR option gone. The thing is as nice as DS looks, it kills FPS in VR, for me anyway. A Nevada game with no clouds I normally achieve 50-90 FPS, but with Deferred Shading on its stuck below 40 and averaging more like 35. Is this issue known to ED? If so, why ruin it for us VR players? Precog Posted April 28, 2018 Posted April 28, 2018 Agreed. Turn off MSAA will make a big difference frame rate wise, but visually it will be very shimmery and jaggy. Check out my 'real world' video series [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
BitMaster Posted April 29, 2018 Posted April 29, 2018 DCS looks great nowadays, the downside is that even a 1080Ti has to struggle to survive. With all HIGH you basically end up 45-100fps, not 100-180fps Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
Charlie-1 Posted April 30, 2018 Author Posted April 30, 2018 I'm no expert but from what I'm reading the advantage of Deferred Shading is for efficient rendering of scenes with hundreds or thousands of light sources. Other than that its less effective than forward shading due to its dual pass process. Might explain the performance hit?
