Pikey Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 DCS is what it is. No point talking about what it might be tomorrow, next week. Vulkan will not solve world hunger, or DCS FPS, people need to set their expectations. DCS needs resources. Many. ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *
nessuno0505 Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 The game is playable with a 1070 and is quite smooth even with higher settings than standard VR preset; graphics is (except some minor lightning issues that will be addressed) far way better, so 2.5 is a strong upgrade vs 1.5.8, and you can still fly your older modules. The real issue - if there is one - and of course there is - is that older modules have developed new bugs due to 2.5 that have to be fixed and this will take time, considering ED is focused on new products and old one fixes have lower priority.
Wolf8312 Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 It's not the FPS that is the problem at least not for me on the Vive I generally get nice frame rates. Problem is horrible fps drops that lag the game and cause immersion breaking steam background flashes, due to there being some problem with the damage model or certain kinds of bombs exploding. ------------ 3080Ti, i5- 13600k 32GB VIVE index, VKB peddals, HOTAS VPC MONGOOSE, WARTHOG throttle, BKicker,
j0nx Posted May 25, 2018 Posted May 25, 2018 I moved my 1080ti to my regular rig and put the 1080 back in the VR rig and am pleasantly surprised by DCS performance compared to when the 1080ti was in it. Granted, it is not as fast and smooth but it is still pretty smooth. For an episode in VR frustration and performance try P3D4 or XP11. They perform HARRIBLE in VR. Those devs should be embarrassed at the performance of both of those sims compared to DCS. Charlie-1 Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 Has anyone observed any improvement or degraded performance with the latest open-beta in virtual reality? (2.5.2.18307) (2.5.2 Unified Version - 2.5.2 Open Beta Update 3) It'll be a few days before I have time to try it out again...
