boscoh Posted May 27, 2018 Posted May 27, 2018 1. Night light textures warp at high angles of bank. Fly over a city at night and increase angle of bank past about 30 degrees and you'll see the textures warp out. 2. Building strobe lights either don't exist or are not bright enough. 3. Runway lighting is too dark, specifically the approach lighting systems and PAPI systems. 3800X, X570, 32GB 3600, RTX 2080Ti, SSD, Odyssey+ VR
Shogun0 Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 Is this the warping effect you are seeing at PG night with the lighting? It looks so bad. VFA-25 Fist of the Fleet [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Virtual Carrier Strike Group One | Discord

Torso Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 I am really bummed about how bad it is. I had some hopes from some of those preview screenies but we don't have that. I think I see a few actual point lights in that vid and the rest is their glowing terrain that they think is night lighting. It is just so terrible. They need to figure a way to get spritelights in their engine. This is what we deserve for the money we pay for these maps. This is what ED needs to invest some research into.
boscoh Posted May 29, 2018 Author Posted May 29, 2018 If you fly low, it does look like street lights. But up high it looks bad. I think all terrain lighting in general is too dark at night. 3800X, X570, 32GB 3600, RTX 2080Ti, SSD, Odyssey+ VR
Esac_mirmidon Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 Same, here. Night lights are WIP, just hope for a change in the future. " You must think in russian.." Torso Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 If DCS reach that level it will be a dream. It should not be a dream. It should be possible. If ED made it a priority, I bet we could have similar in DCS. Whats sad is that vid is almost 3 yrs old. This tech has been around for years and has even evolved further. ED needs to dev something like this for their engine. Their current method just is not cutting it at all. I mean, look at what we could have vs what we do have. :(
