lemoen Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 Thanks ChickenSim! Well, when the Harrier has GPS, then proper simulation of INS is not that important I reckon. As you said: ED never modeled it for their long time flagship model, as there is not really any use case for it, as GPS is pretty much always available. Yeah. Just add some GPS errors (people may not like that) and it’ll br great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
CHRISXTR3M3 Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 Hey, maybe its just me but without the need (and possibility) of an INS allignment the whole Plane feels more like an FC3 or maybe WWII Aircraft to me. For me thats currently the Reason why i left the Harrier in the Hangar. Especially when you take a look at the F-18 in comparsion where the whole priorisation of features is different, first the flight systems and then everything other... Sure thats a very personal opinion, other people my have other opinions and there is no right or wrong here just opinions. So do we have any infos when the plane will be a bit more "complete" from that point of view? comparing the F-18C to Harrier developmental timeline is kind of sadistic....F-18C has been in the works for years. Harrier, not nearly as long. But yes the systems will be implemented...its too bad you leave her parked in the hangar...shes a fun module to get around with. FYI User Files for AV8-B, X55
Stache Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 Best advise for early access, consider it beta testing you paid for. If it’s not your thing, wait until it doesn’t say early access in the E-shop. —————— i7 7820x 4.3ghz Asus tuf x299 mk 2 32gig G.skill 3200mhz ram 500gig ssd OS 2x 1tb ssd raid 0 GeForce GTX 1080 HTC Vive
Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 but I don't think you understand the concept of Early Access You're wrong about that... Fri13 Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 There are two different things mixed here. 1) Correctly simulated INS system That means you need to align it, you need to realign it, you get its errors, you get its behavior modeled. 2) Navigation system using INS system where you can input coordinates or other systems using INS for their operation. As the INS can be implemented but it ain't having realistic flaws and problems but simple perfect operation like simulating alignment by having a timer in startup and random error by disabling INS and affecting other systems using it. You just don't get the drift and other more realistic behaviors in it but you can get without complex simulation all that is needed for INS operations and systems using it. So when in start you get a perfect INS, it is more than good enough for most. When later on you get the INS malfunctions and the limitations in its performance (like drifting) then it is great for you. But not any point it is required to be simulated in most complex manner to get the other sub-systems and its purpose be operational, it is just without possible errors and other troubles. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
flo57100 Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 Don't leave her parked sadly in her hangar, she wants to fly :pilotfly: Seriously, one good reason for flying early access, you will learn how to properly handle you airplane with the systems which are working NOW (and vertical landing is an essential skill to learn, same for AAR). It will be less things for you to learn when additionnal systems/features will become available. The more you learn now, the less you will sweat in the future  We discover the early access beast with guys from the virtual squad I fly with, we learn, we build procedures, and more important, we have a lot of fun
