bin801 Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 I try several possibilities of combination of cloud density and rain/thunderstorm. I found rain or thunderstorm dosn't matter, only when cloud density reach 9, the rain effect start appear. If cloud density is set below 9, rain effects won't appear. Such as cloud set 8 and rain, the rain drop effects won't start. Of course, cloud 7 with rain won't start the rain drop effects. Is that designed to? proposed to? or any misunderstanding ? or ... Thank you

Thank you I thought the same when I tested this, but actually the rain is there. It's just scattered. I tested this on density 8. I didn't notice any rain effects sitting in the jet. I pressed F2 and zoomed away from the jet to other parts of the map and started to see and hear the rain. I wouldnt call this scattered showers because I was under a cloud. I'm sure this also is WIP. i9 14900k @5.6GHz NZXT Kraken |Asus ROG Strix Z790 A-Gaming | Samsung NVMe m.2 990 Pro 2TB | 64GB DDR5 6400MHz EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra | PiMAX CRYSTAL LIGHT | HOTAS Warthog | Saitek Flight Pedals
falken76 Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 It's showing up on mine with density of 7. Fog is unchecked so the Visibility and Thickness functions are not applying. So I have full visibility, there are scattered clouds in the sky and I can see rain drops on the canopy while I'm at the airport on the ground. I'm using VR. When you move the wind actually appears to be influencing the rain drops. Weather this is actually an effect caused by wind or it's just an animation being played when it knows you're moving I have no clue but it looks convincing. When you get over 50 knots or so it starts to dissappear and next thing you know there's no rain effect at all. So this eyecandy only shows up at the airport. This effect is impressive, but it seems like they needed useless busy work for an intern to do or something and this is it. It's awesome, but completely unnecessary. I'll always have it on since it doesn't effect FPS in any way shape or form on my mid level GTX 1060 6gb card so I'm sure most of you wouldn't notice a performance hit. I'd still like this to be developed so we see the rain effects while we're flying, then it would end up being a much more worthwhile endeavor since it wouldn't only appear in one tiny spot which you might only notice on take off if you're paying attention. Visibility difficulties due to rain would add a bit of immersion to landing that most flight sims don't do. That water collecting on the canopy would be nerve racking when you're coming in on approach in heavy rain and wind.
