Rayzer Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 I've had DCS for many years now. It has never worked as promised. I've tried all methods of support and got the same suggestions in which NONE worked. I've purchased several planes, campaigns and terrain. Nothing works. Even my controls do not work. PLEASE, someone help me remove EVERYTHING from my system and help me re-install so HOPEFULLY I can start fresh with a working DCS system?
Sgt_Fresh Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 Periodically i in-install DCS, then re-read install the game. I have found it to be useful in eliminating screen freezes, and CTD's not to be confused with STD's. I also think it removed clutter that reduces frame rates. Give it a try. Hope it helps.

No need, you can clean and repair any versions of DCS anywhere on your PC and also change any of these version to other versions of DCS. I have only installed DCS once around 5 years ago I think? I have backup on an external drive that I copy back when doing PC upgrades etc. I did a post recently explaining all this here. I've had DCS for many years now. It has never worked as promised. What are your specs, have you got a joystick and have you setup the controls etc. Take your time and be patient, I know you want to get going quickly, it just takes time with a big sim like DCS to learn some of the in's and out's. Take your time and it will all click. Not totally accurate, if you continue to have issues running the game or are unable to auto update a clean install is an option. I have run the clean and repair without a successful outcome. In fact I am re-installing DCS for the F18C release, Im looking forward to it. Best of luck getting the game to run without issues.

Like I said, I've had no problems and no of many others here that have just always copy and paste DCS from external drives, run a clean and repair and then update and launch. Never in the last 5 years reinstalled DCS and I've had up to 3 version at once going, all copies of each other then changed into different versions of DCS, alpha, beta etc. This is all without downloading a thing except the updates. DCS is not tied into windows like other programs, so installing it again will do little. This is why SkateZilla built the DCS Updater GUI Utility these guy's test 3, 4 or 5 DCS builds. You can see in his app he has spots for custom 1, custom 2 Builds. He updates and changes these builds on the fly, you can too using his app. I will say I have had to Rename my save game files once before and copy over my controller files to the new game files under c:/users/YOURUSERNAME/Saved Games/DCS/ DCS will just build another one if you rename it DCSopenbetaOLD etc. Edited May 30, 2018 by David OC i7-7700K OC @ 5Ghz | ASUS IX Hero MB | ASUS GTX 1080 Ti STRIX | 32GB Corsair 3000Mhz | Corsair H100i V2 Radiator | Samsung 960 EVO M.2 NVMe 500G SSD | Samsung 850 EVO 500G SSD | Corsair HX850i Platinum 850W | Oculus Rift | ASUS PG278Q 27-inch, 2560 x 1440, G-SYNC, 144Hz, 1ms | VKB Gunfighter Pro Chuck's DCS Tutorial Library Download PDF Tutorial guides to help get up to speed with aircraft quickly and also great for taking a good look at the aircraft available for DCS before purchasing.
