Aeroscout Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Ok, i'll look on my own too. 'm curious as to what those "floppy sims" were like. EDIT: Wow, there are practically no screenies on google! DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
dodger42 Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Agreed, Gunship 2000 was fantastic. Particularly like the load-out menu. LHX attack chopper was also enjoyable, though much lighter. Think it had EGX graphics. Lol. GS2000: Love those explosions!! . . . Lockon Advanced Realism with Touch-Buddy
ViperEagle Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 And people say the F-22 is huge? The F-23 was much larger. Personally I feel the proper choice was made.
Anytime Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Why has the US Navy not bought into the F-22? Do they have something against Lockheed?
S77th-konkussion Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 ermm.. the F22 was never conceived with naval operations in mind (like the F15, F16, F117, etc etc..) They are involved in the F-35/JSF VSTOL for the US Marines and the NAvy eventually having a [trap & cat] carrier capable model. Pilotasso Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Actualy there was a proposal to get an F-14 replacement by navalising the F-22 but it got axed very early. .
ViperEagle Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I think it was actually closer to a F-22ized F-14. It would have retained the WSO/RIO and the same basic layout of the F-14. Ultimately it would have been even more expensive than the F-22. Still, the (N)ATF would have been cool.
SuperKungFu Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Lol finally went back and watched the YF-23 documentary again and found the answer to the red hourglass. There was a sharp diamond shape opening (air vent) at the bottom of the YF-23, and they thought it was dangerous so they painted it red. But it took on the shape of an hour glass so they just made it like that, it also relates to the name of the aircraft, the black window II since that particular spider also has a red spot on its belly. britgliderpilot Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 It was long enough ago though, that I can't even remember what myth about the SR-71 I was repeating. I know it had something to do with the official designation of the aircraft though. . . . . that it was RS-71 until LBJ got the name wrong at the official announcement? It's in Ben Rich's Skunk Works book somewhere, apart from anything else. Unless there's another story about that, of course :) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
