Aeroscout Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Has anyone ever heard of or use X-fire? It's actually really cool. I actually prefer it over TS if only more people used it. It's free, and it's sound quality is good. It's only problem is that it it essentially an IM service, so, you usually only communicate 1 on 1. you can set up chat rooms, but you can only invite certain people and so, it's not practical for a dedicated server on Hyperlobby. it is good for squadrens though. So, I just thought i would post this, i was just wondering if people have used it or have hear of it. S77th-konkussion Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Can't say I'd be interested in this for flight. [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]
Black_Hawk Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 I have it but I can't seem to make it's window appear in any game (and I have set the keybinds and everything, I know how to use it but it just seems that it doesn't want to work on my PC :joystick: ). Ventrilo all the way :D 159th GAR LockOnFiles CAW Team
porky Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 I have it, and I hate it. It pops up annoying windows in games all the time, the ingame interface is just plain annoying because it's always ontop and so clunky, and it's pointless for me, since CS:S has Steam and LO has Hyperlobby. Black_Hawk, set your keybind as two keys. This happened to me when I first set it up, after changing it from Scroll Lock to something like Ctrl+Q it worked. If you want an alternative to TS, get Vent. Edit: I'll give XFire this, it's very multi-game. You can chat to someone on BF2 while you're playing LO. You can also use it as a game and server manager, which no other program can do. That's good.
VMFA-Blaze Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 I had it about three years ago and didn't like it .... So I deleted it...So now I'm getting e-mails from them which I never even bother to read... I guess I should go to the sight and unsubscribe but its just a pain...For me its just SPAM..... Program2 Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 I agree with porky, It just feels bloated and a resource hog.
Shaman Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Yes. Tried it, don't find it necessary. It's a resource hog and ad-ware. Aeroscout Posted April 14, 2007 Author Posted April 14, 2007 Ok, just curious as to what peoples opinions were. I personally like it. havent really used it ingame too much, but as an audio IM service, it's pretty good. Revvin Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 I have it installed though don't use it all that often. I use it mainly for finding IL-2 servers as I don't like Hyperlobby that much. If it supported more sims i.e server browsing rather than just launching the game I'd probably use it more often but they are more interested in supporting FPS games. One update a few months back added support for a demo released years ago when there were a number of threads requesting support for racing sims like rFactor that went ignored. Finally they added rFactor support in the latest patch but no server browsing just game launch.
Aeroscout Posted April 15, 2007 Author Posted April 15, 2007 Lockon is supported now. look @ my sig.
