How to make static objects?

I’ve really gotten in to designing a mission using static items to dress up the set. There are a few items that I’ve yet to locate that I would like to add to my mission set so the next step is learning how to make static items for dcs. I’ve looked for tutorials but the ones I’ve found involve the aircraft mods not something I wish to make at this point. But I do need a written tutorial on making static items for dummies. Is there one that I’ve missed or can you create one. As I understand it it’s like most things in dcs a graphic representation and lua scripts in certain directories. What software is used 3D, photoshop orsoMething else?

To make the model you need 3ds max. Then you need to install the EDM plugin for 3ds.

 

For textures, gimp works too but I guess you have more possibilities with photoshop. File format should be dds.
