ShamAKM Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 Hi all, my tracker was destroyed :music_whistling: My friend told me that there is a program to use web cam as tracker maybe not as good but still worth a try. Can anybody tell me what prog it is ? Thank you lads.
hitman Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 Id like to know this too cuz I have a rather expensive webcam that I never use...
hitman Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 Thats gonna take the cake if I have to wear a LED on my forehead...Im fugly enough as it is, not to mention I have to have a funny looking light on my forehead. =\ People like me should be shied away from all light. No ones watching anyways. :| What the hell...now all I need is a led light and a battery to connect it to and something to paste it onto my forehead. =\
hitman Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 I downloaded that pan2cam deal from MouseVision...it follows the mouse tracking quite nicely but I dont like one bit how it doesnt center when you center your head position.
bramski Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 Cam2pan when used alongside Newview with an LED works very well. Cam2pan is $10 I think, newview is free, and you can get an LED for pennies from ebay. You can also use Freelook with Newview and it's free. I had problems with Freelook disabling my camera each time I used it so I ended up buying cam2pan and I'm pleased with it. The only major downside with cam2pan and freelook is that they are resource hungry and will most certainly have quite a large impact on performance in lomac unless you're running dual core. Here's how to configure Newview to run alongside cam2pan/freelook in Lomac. First up install cam2pan or freelook, then open up newview (config.exe) and register the DLL, it's the big "add DLL to registry button" :) once you have done that run LOMAC once then close it down again, this is done to add the lomac INI file to the newview folder so that it's available for configuration. Go back to the Newview folder and run the config.exe again, you should now see LOCK ON_1.INI or something similar below the open profile button. Ok now go to the helmet section, you'll see it up at the top of the Application, it's the 5th tab. Once in there you'll see lots of options, make sure the following 2 are selected "Enabled on startup" and "External interface (cam2pan etc..)" You can also select a deadzone and I would reccommend a minimum value of 4 for each box (standard and floating) a smoothing level of at least 15 to start of with and a medium response curve. These are just to get you started, once you're familiar with the program and it's at least working in LOMAC you can tweak it to your liking. Next go into the "buttons/assignments" tab and double click the centering option, it will expand and you want to click on the centre with return option, I set this to the same key that I use to centre view in lomac so that if I need to resync my view I just press that whilst looking forward. Next you want to look down till you see the helmet option, again double click to expand it and select "Helmet mode (Helmet/Hat)" assign a button to this, it's basically an on off swith to disable/enable it ingame. Next up you want to look up at the top of the application and click on the "additional settings" tab, then "miscellaneous" and make sure the "Direct keyboard scan(LOCK ON mode)" is selcted.... apply it all and you're good to go. Cam2pan set to flashlight mode, auto start, speed settings are personal but use 21% for horizontal and 25% vertical. Make sure you're webcam is set to it's lowest crappyest settings it can do so as to keep the framerate high on the camera. You can set this in cam2pan "settings/video format/" suggest I420 format and 160x120 resolution if available. Turn off auto exposure, set to black and white mode in cam2pan "settings/video source" Thats' all I can think of just now if I've missed anything I'll post it up later.
hitman Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 Ill have to try this later...My biggest problem is trying to figure out how to get the mouse to work in game rather than just on the desktop.
bramski Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 Select the lockon profile in freelook or lockon/il2 mode in cam2pan.
js311 Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 I tried it once, but couldn't get it to work with the SUPER BRIGHT LED's in the headlamp I use for work. According to the web page "superbright LEDs are too powerful and will flood your camera's sensor." :)
Aeroscout Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 Ill have to try this later...My biggest problem is trying to figure out how to get the mouse to work in game rather than just on the desktop. Go into the config folder in the lockon folder, go to the view folder, and open the view.lua file. Then change "cockpitmouse=false: to "cockpitmouse=true" it works very well, and i used it for a while before i got TIR. If you have an X52, th ministick works very well for it. (that's what i used.) DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices

And if I havent done that allready Id look more of an idiot than I do now... :( Dunno what the problem is Ill just have to troubleshoot and cry my way thru it, lol
Aeroscout Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 Ok, i'm sorry, does it just not work or does it conflict with the game or what... I'm sorry. I never thought you were stupid. js311 Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 Does anybody know where to download the latest version of NewView?
js311 Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 www.google.com ? believe me I tried :) found ver. 32, but apparantly a ver. 37 has been released. found a bunch of dead links, so if anyone knows i'd appreciate it.
bramski Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 Heres my newview 37 folder zipped up with a bunch of profiles inside it. http://rapidshare.com/files/27567506/NewView_37ss.rar
Roi Danton Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I downloaded that pan2cam deal from MouseVision...it follows the mouse tracking quite nicely but I dont like one bit how it doesnt center when you center your head position. In Newview attach the ResetView option to NUMPAD5 and this key will become your best friend.
hitman Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Now if I can only get it to be accurate and work in game at the same time.
7rooper Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I just tried Cam2pan and it worked nicely with my 10 bucks camera in GTR2 -a driving simulator-. I havent tested it in Lockon yet ... I'll give it a try tonight and let you know how it worked even with my crappy webcam. So far all I can say s that this stuff has done well and made me put off the purchase of a TIR.
