Just as the title says! I don't own a TrackIR, but in the past I've used Opentrack with a webcam. Haven't used it recently.

When I disable my Asus Z170 motherboard's Ethernet adapter to try to get around some stuttering, it gets reported as "TrackIR Disconnected" in DCS World (upper-right corner of the sim screen).

I always wondered why the Controls setup menu in DCS always says TrackIR, even though I don't own one... Now I know it's the blinkin' Ethernet adapter :)

Anyone have any ideas about this? Could it be a Windows problem, or a bug in DCS?

Thanks!

My money would be on it being a DCS issue. This is the same sim, after all, that automatically assigns view and launch commands to my rudder pedals.

That's really funny :) hehehe

I just wonder where DCS World gets the 6 degrees of motion from the network adapter :)

It does make one wonder...

Seriously, though, I wonder how the sim checks for peripherals and decides which are appropriate and what the assignments should be. This sort of thing has been going on for years (odd rudder assignments, etc.). It frustrates newbies who saddle up, jump into the pit for a quick flight and suddenly find themselves in a steep bank for no apparent reason or have no throttle response because of multiple mappings in odd places, etc, etc.

It's suspect the way the sim does it is by... pulling it out of its arse :)

DCS has a generic control scheme that's intended to be used with any controllers, commercial or homemade. The only consistency I've ever noticed is that it seems to use the right 3 axes for pitch, roll and throttle. That's fine for getting going.

How on Earth it figured out that my Ethernet adapter is a TrackIR is beyond me. So be it :)
