If A/C is struck by AAA or MANPADS or any AD and right or left engine catches fire even if the engine is shut down (which is confirmed by drop in the respective engine RPM to 0) it keeps on burning and ultimately A/C explodes.

Are there any different keys or steps to estinguish the fire?? Or is this a bug?

In most cases if I get hit and engine catches fire, I just switch that engine off and the fire goes out. There migh be different damage models some being able to put out the fire this way, and some not.

I had an occasion once where I was so low on fuel and trying to RTB I switched one engine off to save fuel... 1-2 minutes later the switched off engine caught fire and I am sure I wasn't hit by anything as I was well over friendly teritory and no one engaged me. The fire eventually got out.

The funny part in this occasion was that I was only 2km from the runway and on finals when I ran out of fuel and the remaining engie ceased. In the end of this struggle to RTB I had to bail :D

I've never got an engine on fire to go out on a Su-25, Even after turning it off, throttling back & diving from altitude. I have on an Su-25T, but not the Vanilla.

I thought I'd read it didn't actually work on the Su-25.

Cheers.

Sometimes you can dive fairly fast and you can extinguish the fire that way.

Flying into a lake will extinguish the fire, but the rest of the plane will be trashed.

DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices

Yes it's a bug on the su-25, but I'm afraid the devs aren't aware of it. The fix would be to use the 'engine fire script' from the su-25T.

A real fix would include a fire extinguisher, but that would make things too complicated, so... Just use the su-25T scripts for 1.2 plz.

This spoiled the su-25 for me, I like being hit by Iglas/Strela-1s/Stingers and limp back to base and make an emergency landing, hell that's the way I spend my lomac time. There is nothing better than making a perfect emergency landing without exploding or ending up in a field. But that's my sick and twisted opinion :P

well, i dont want to get hit in the first place, but if i do, i do like getting back to base... that reminds me of MiG-29 mission 1... sucessful belly landing... that was fun...

:-) me too.

Sick bastards all over :P BTW, try loading up 3*3 fuel tanks (lope the tanks to HP 4 and 8), that gives you the authentic 'airliner' feeling. And if things get really bad, you just can press ALT+R.

And how to do that??? Please let me know...so that i can also join the club of sick pilots and do some emergency landings :music_whistling:

lol! I agree too...I was playing this A-10 mission and the engine RPM's dropped as a BMP engaged me with its cannon when I got too close ... yeah laugh your heart out .. a BMP :p ...lol! it was fun as I had to carefully nurse the hog back to base. Man!! if this plane ever gets AFM.....I will be sooo freakin happy. :)

No, no, I said that the devs should fix it in 1.2, and I want you to spread the word, otherwise we will get a nice chopper and this flying bomb that explodes too soon.

If I knew how to fix that I'd be making posts in CAPITAL letters shouting all over the forum, and that would get me banned, but, whatever.
