Robert31178 Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Flew the Huey Sunday evening for the first time in a month and a half or so, it was a night mission. Anyone else notice strange stuff with the lights? I powered up the battery and hit my interior overhead light and all was good, panel lights good, but the exterior lights made quite a splash in my cockpit.... The position lights splashed the cockpit overall in white and the rotating beacon flashed obnoxiously inside the bird. I was fairly unhappy as I don't recall it being like this? I noticed on the update today that a few modules had a similar issue and it was fixed on this patch, but noticed that the Huey was not updated similarly. Is this a known bug, and if so is this something that is being addressed? Thanks for any help! ~Rob
Holton181 Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 Known for all modules basically, been there since introduction of Deferred Shading. Will be fixed eventually. Helicopters and Viggen DCS 1.5.7 and OpenBeta Win7 Pro 64bit i7-3820 3.60GHz P9X79 Pro 32GB GTX 670 2GB VG278H + a Dell PFT Lynx TrackIR 5
Robert31178 Posted July 5, 2018 Author Posted July 5, 2018 Dang, guess I never noticed previously. Thank you for the information Holton. ~Rob
Holton181 Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 Maybe you had DS turned off previously? It's not possible anymore unfortunately. Helicopters and Viggen DCS 1.5.7 and OpenBeta Win7 Pro 64bit i7-3820 3.60GHz P9X79 Pro 32GB GTX 670 2GB VG278H + a Dell PFT Lynx TrackIR 5
SonofEil Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Does anyone else still have this problem? Fired up the Huey for the first time in years (A-friggin-mazing in VR btw, much easier to fly too), but the exterior lights are illuminating the cockpit. As far as I know all the other modules fixed this a while ago. Is it being addressed for the Huey? i7 7700K @5.0, 1080Ti, 32GB DDR4, HMD Odyssey, TM WH, Crosswind Rudder...

As far as I know all the other modules fixed this a while ago. Is it being addressed for the Huey? No, it's still a system-wide problem that exists in numerous other modules and that got introduced with DS. Some have fixed it; many have not; and really, it's more a part of the larger ED-level engine problem where no lights behave properly unless they are specifically targeted for work-arounds. For all intents and purposes, it's easier to just go with the general rule that DCS does not really support night flying, or any kind of environment that lights matter, at the moment. ❧ ❧ Inside you are two wolves. One cannot land; the other shoots friendlies. You are a Goon. ❧ ❧
