BlimpyBoy Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 I've posted this issue in the RAZBAM AV8B forum but it is actually an issue with the current DCS build. I wanted to re-post it here so the community could take a look. FLIR and NAVFLIR are broken (too dark/too weak/washed out) compared to earlier versions of 2.5.X, at least in the AV8B (the only plane to have NAVFLIR I think). I've attached screenshots of the comparison. I might check the FLIR in the A10 when I get a chance. The latest version that I could roll back to other than the current 2.5.2 stable is 1.5.8...but this issue was not present in earlier 2.5.X versions. Not sure when this issue popped up in 2.5, but the current OB and release version both have this issue. ED Devs said they are working on a tweak for the FLIR but are not sure when it will be updated. Some users were able to mitigate this issue before by turning DS off...so another kick to the nuts with the DS only build.
Goa Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 +1 for this, at current stage DCS 2.5x is only playable during daytime. I dont know when night lights /navflir will be fixed, 2.5 is out already from 6 months and night still need to be fixed. BitMaster Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 You can try SSAA over MSAA and see if the helps. SSAA-1.5x looks nicer than MSAA-4x with better performance. MSAA-2x is faster, I agree, but look how it looks (MSAA is not made for DS at all) :( Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
Goa Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 @Bitmaster : SSAA is not working for resolutions above 1080p as per official ED's changelog ( update 4 and further move from OB to stable last week), plus SSAA and MSAA has nothing to do with how the game looks at night, lighting system has not yet been fixed , only slighty improved. Last patch/update about fixing lighting system was from 3 months ago, till then we had no more updates with regards to the lighting being fixed or not. Anyhow as a result and as of now playing at night is a NO GO CPU : Intel i7 8700k@5.0ghz cooled by Noctua NH-D15 / Motherboard:Asorck Z370 Taichi / RAM: 32GB GSkill TridentZ @3600mhz / SSD: 500GB Nvme Samsung 970 evo+1 TB Sabrent Nvme M2 / GPU:Asus Strix OC 2080TI / Monitor: LG 34KG950F Ultrawide / Trackir 5 proclip/ VIRPIL CM2 BASE + CM2 GRIP + F148 GRIP + 200M EXTENSION /VKB T-Rudder MKIV rudder /Case: Fractal Design R6 Define black
BlimpyBoy Posted July 5, 2018 Author Posted July 5, 2018 It's a real shame that 2.5x has gone to release version without a fix for night lighting...this should be higher up on the 'to do' list for ED. Are you listening ED? Please fix the current night lighting/FLIR issues...thanks for the cows but let's focus. It's been long enough.
hanab Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 Hi, There is exactly the same issue with CAM IR on gazelle SA342. Video is too dark.
