Vannipo Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 (edited) Hey Guys, which script I have to edit, to make the VR Zoom closer? Cause I mean, playing in 2D allows to zoom in much more and see more details. And if flying the Viggen and trying to lock targets, a closer zoom would be nice! And, is there a way to remove Num5 from recentering the head? I removed it anywhere I found Num 5 assigned in the settings, but it still remains, that I have to press Num5. Regards. Jabbers_ Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 Zoom is based on FOV, it cannot be changed. It only appears closer on a monitor cause the FOV is wider. If you put 2 monitors side by side playing dcs, 1 is ultrawide, and 1 is not, you will see the ultrawide appears to be closer, but infact is not. As for Num5, its a bug. What u say is kinda of logical (miss)conclusion and mixing up words... Zoom is based on FOV...? Strange... Sure it is. It is that. "Zoom" is just a word for making a FOV smaller. So it changes while zooming. Of Course if I zoom, I change the FOV. Cause that's what happens. If I hit the VR Zoom Button, I change the FOV of each Eye from 110° to an unnatural one. Like wacthing through binoculars. And the question is, whether it is possible to change that minimum FOV which DCS offers me by default. Thanks for the Num5 hint! Regards Vannipo I think the minimum FOV you for zoom is hard coded to ~20. You can change what that minimum is for a monitor, but only to the minimum of 20, setting it to 10 still only does 20. VR inherently uses this minimum, and therefor, cannot be changed. Twitch2DCS - Bring twitch chat into DCS. SplashOneGaming.com - Splash One is a community built on combat flight simulation. Jabbers_ Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 Additionally I think what was trying to get at was that the FOV zoom appears different depending on aspect ratio, and the wider the aspect ratio is, the appearance is that you are zoomed in farther, but in reality you are not. Vannipo Posted July 18, 2018 Author Posted July 18, 2018 You can change what that minimum is for a monitor, but only to the minimum of 20.... Where I can change this?
Jabbers_ Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 It defaults to the minimum, so no need to change, was more only pointing out you could go higher than 20. It you want to change it you have to do it through server.lua i believe in the saved games folder. Twitch2DCS - Bring twitch chat into DCS.
