Exceedingly tiny “small dial” interaction zone.

In the L-39, at least, but also (even if much less so) in the Mi-8, it seems the interaction zones for the “small” knobs are either offset in depth or just far too tiny, to the point where they keep being overlapped by the outer/“big knob” zone. Exactly where you can interact with the inner knob will vary — usually somewhere along the top or inner border, but placing the mouse cursor right on top of the knob will inevitably make the outer one move instead.

In the attached image, the cursor isn't captured, but the label should give a clue as to why things aren't working like they should: the cursor is at this moment a few pixels above and to the left of the tool tip, so even right on top of the small knob, the mouse interaction will actually activate the big knob instead.

Based on pure guesswork and clumsy attempts at trouble-shooting, looking around from different angles using TrackIR suggests that the small knob is somehow offset deeper behind the big knob, when it really should be the other way around — it is as if you manipulate the root of the knob, rather than the tip, and that root is occluded by the big-knob outer ring. The head position might be part of why it seems easier to use in the Mi-8, although more experimentation is needed to see if it's that or just that the Mi-8 variant is set up differently.

Agree with you, I'll have to make a panel (one more !!) with double encoder to make it easier to use :megalol: Hope update will fix that ;)

Same struggle of getting that little knob rotating as expected. It keeps rotating the big knob instead.

I've been using head-tracking + zoom in + mouse cursor + shaolin meditation.
