Jhuss96 Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Not sure how feasible it would be to edit the textures on the bow & the textures + lights on the island to have different CVN numbers for different ships. I'm not sure if the CVs differ in any large way from one another other than their identifying numbers. But for any that are similar to the current Stennis it seems like a pretty easy modification to give us more CVs to work with. Mars Exulte Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Ehhh, technically there is some variation in design, etc, particularly in the electronics end of thing (an early Nimitz vs one just launched for example) but for video game purposes, especially considering DCS doesn't model ships closely enough for that stuff to actually matter, yeah you could pretty easily change the numbers/names, just like on the planes. All it would really be is a transparency layer or something in the textures. Whether or not they actually will DO that, is another matter. Imo, there's little point in referencing specific ships, they should just do slightly more generic classes and be done with it. It's a lot easier to look up "Ticonderoga" than it is "CG-60 Normandy" (which is not readily apparent what it is, aside from probably being a cruiser) Де вороги, знайдуться козаки їх перемогти. 5800x3d * 3090 * 64gb * Reverb G2

Yes at least for CVN-71 to -75(sometimes referred to as the "Theodore Roosevelt subclass") it should be feasible. However, from CVN-76(Ronald Reagan) the arrestor gear only has 3 wires, so that would be probably be too much of an omission :) Imo, there's little point in referencing specific ships, they should just do slightly more generic classes and be done with it. So a simple way of addressing what you propose, would be to use the proper class designations(in your example this would be "CG-47 Ticonderoga") for the editor, since this is where you make the selection for the mission and then just leave individual names as they are for the in-game display......at least for ships that only exist as single entities.
