Have you tried updating the StarForce-drivers? *feels silly for asking*

Clustermunitions is just another way of saying that you don't like someone.

I used to like people, then people ruined that for me.

Same problem

I have the same problem. I'm running my machine on Vista and have downloaded all patches. CD error is popping up every time I want to play.

Yesterday I also wanted to burn couple CD's and my burning software gave me warning: ACCESS DENIED TO CD-ROM.

I uninstalled Starforce and everything worked perfectly. It looks like it's a starforce problem but still I'm not able to play FC.:(

I did run lockon.exe through "RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR". I couldn't run it just by clicking on lockon.exe - starforce gave me warning it couldn't install libraries because I am not the administrator. Well I am the administrator on my machine.

I emailed support team but so far no answer.

I gotta keep reposting this? You HAVE to run it as administrator, both the autorun AND the installer file.

The best way to do this is:

1. When you pop your cd into the tray, the cd should run automatically. Open the cd from my computer and right click, select explore, right click on autorun and run as administrator.

2. Right click on the FC installer on the cd, select run as administrator. Eject the disk, then reinsert the disk.

3. Return to the Installer splash screen where it prompts you to install or exit---select install.

4. Patch up to 1.12b not forgetting to run this as administrator as well.

If this is not working then you most likely have a porked installation, you should reformat your entire computer and start from scratch.

OK. Is there a difference between LockOn CD and FC CD?

You mentioned in your post FC CD. I don't have it.

My hard drive was formatted a week ago.

I have run autorun as administrator.

And also I did run "setup" on my Lockon CD as adminstrator.

I installed the game as administrator and applied all patches as administrator as well.

And still I get CD error.

Yes I am.

Yesterday I unistalled LockOn, formatted my HD and installed everything according to your advice - FC, all patches. My LockOn Cd is sitting in the drive and still I get CD error. I didn't have this problem with XP so I know it's vista or Starforce problem. I couldn't get access to my CD-ROM while burning CD. I uninstalled Starforce and everything was fine.

You have to use the correct patch. The FC cd is different from the downloaded version so make sure your using the correct patch.
