hitman Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 I need to replace the monitor on my laptop...beware of pissed off people and flying objects come to mind. Is this even possible to do? Not a whole lot of places I see out there with replacement monitors for laptops. Anyone have any ideas?
Kuky Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 I've never heard someone replacing actual monitor on a laptop... I bet it would be pricey and you'd need to wait long time for a replacement. Of course you'd need to send it to service shop... they will probably send it to factory or order spare part...then wait ages to get it.. then take ages to actually replace it, and when they do you'll wait a bit more for them to call you  What the hell happened to it? hitman Posted May 14, 2007 Author Posted May 14, 2007 I happened to it. The last week or so Ive been offline cuz Sprint has really intelligent tech support and poor towers for wireless, took my time and reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled windows to try and get it back online. Finally got somewhere with it and guess Microsoft took the cheese again, and for some reason it wont upgrade to ultimate again. And with how long its taking Acer to ship my Upgrade Anytime 32bit disks...and my lack of hair...managed to throw a very sharp object at the monitor. It cracked the screen but it was either that or toss the muhfukkah out the window. Anyways I just realized Im covered under warranty and it technically doesnt look like something hard was tossed at the monitor...more like shut with a foreign object between the monitor and the keyboard.

I don't think they would accept that as legit reason and covered under waranty if yuo say that... because that was what happened they would say it's user error and it was mishandelled. I think you've got a tough one there Hitman...:noexpression: PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
hitman Posted May 14, 2007 Author Posted May 14, 2007 Doesnt matter regardless. I didnt tell em how it happened or what was thrown at it, just that the monitor is damaged. To soothe things over, I also put in a request to upgrade the video card to an 8800 series gpu. Ill be out of combat action for a good month at the longest, so they say. Their site says 10 day turn around on warranty work...if it costs me anything Im screwed till the middle of next month. And since selling this laptop is a priority and getting a desktop instead, Ill be ready for that new desktop when my laptop comes back from the factory as good as new, upgraded, hopefully.
VMFA-Blaze Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 I know that with Compusa if you bought there service plan they usually stand behind the product... But with something like this its gong to have to be sent back to the factory for replacement, They don't stock laptop screens ... So your right Guy you'll be out of action for maybe that long, or maybe even longer.. Sorry to hear about that, it seems like were both going through similar circumstances, bout my high end desk tops are temporarily down and I'm resorting to using my old Sony VAIO .. hitman Posted May 14, 2007 Author Posted May 14, 2007 Can't upgrade the graphics card and the monitor will set me back a good 600 bucks, so I think im gonna set this thing up as a temp desktop until I can get things squared away. Ill get me a temp monitor set up on it and use it as a primary screen and attempt to take the cracked monitor off the laptop until otherwise. Moral of the story: If you can afford the extended warranty that covers bad anger management issues then do so because itll cost you later. Folks, this is exactly why they invented wireless mice. They make very handy throwing objects and the first thing to go on ANY computer component would be the first thing you see within throwing range.
VMFA-Blaze Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 OMFG... That's too bad Bro...
