Well if you can make it a condition then you can set a flag or have an action triggered.

If you can detect taxi call then you can probably detect startup request and others.

I'm making a training mission for multiple air frames. Right now I'm working with the AV8B. This mission isn't spoon feeding the pilot instruction on how to do things, but rather gives the pilot instructions on what to do: Add Waypoint via UFC, Locate T72 at waypoint you just added, ect....

He or She can look things up as they go along or use this as a refresher.

So getting back to the problem at hand.

I want to have a message sent to the pilot when he's got the plane ready to go. I'm stuck on how to determine that.

  1. Should I have a check for when the engine RPM is at ready idle(Don't know the cockpit parameters AV8B and stuck on how to listen for appropriate RPM. I asked if there was a list https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=218851)?
  2. Wait till pilot makes request for taxi (i.e. must be ready to go if he's calling for taxi permission)?
  3. Put in an F10 radio item (can I use F10 without easy comms)?

The detect ATC coms thing was mostly curiosity. I don't think it would be a show stopper, but any thoughts would be appriciated.

Well, you can get clearance to taxi before you're ready to go, so that wouldn't help...you can also have the engine up and not be ready.

Basically you'd need a pretty exhaustive list of cockpit argument checks (and remember these only work in single player with a "Player" aircraft) if you wanted to detect when a player has properly completed startup.

If it's not a startup focused training, my advice would just be to have the player report they're ready to go via an F10 menu item with a UNIT'S SPEED HIGHER THAN trigger as a backup for the I-don't-read-the-briefing-or-listen-to-the-messages crowd.

If they are started to move, they are probably ready to go.

You can check that. And do more:

If they started moving and the radio frequency is not set to tower, remind them to get Taxi clearance.

If they are near the runway, remind them to get takeoff clearance. Assuming that you know what airport they are at.

Yeah,

This isn't startup, take off/ landing, or VTOL. This is for switchology. Practicing things like using the UFC to do different tasks. Using Radios and Arment sys's.

I think this of this as a real low tech mission.

Thanks for interest and help

Just did a test flight. Used the F10 option and it works just fine. But I do need a radio sound file as a que to look up and read the message.
