I decided to start a new topic, since this seems to be my last hurdle to a perfect game.

After installing the flaming cliffs add on, w/ the 1.12a patch I get white boxes where explosions occur, whether it's a missile hitting a tank, a plane crashing, or any other explosion. Its a very localized white box that sits right over the item that just exploded.

I'm running the gforce 7900gs that was working awsome with the 1.02 version of the game. I have 2 gigs of ram. It's not a FPS issue, as the game is super smooth, just with white boxes! LOL

I still see these some times myself guy... Its not actually the video card that's causeing it... This simulator is CPU intensive, I think that a lot of us still have this issue after all of these years. And even with the latest patches installed...

My machine does the same thing. Personally I think it has something to do with the dx8.1 functionality coded in-game rather anything cpu-related. Even though just about everyones video card here is 9.0c capable, and some of us have dx10 installed, 8.1 is still in-game. So I believe that as soon as dx9 is coded in, them white boxes will remain.

Actually I have been getting these white boxes recently as well.

I havent changed anything either. Its just been doing a few things weirdly lately.

Seems to be only light sources that are doing it.

:hmm:

Not dx8, dx8.1...big difference really. Falcon 4 runs on dx6 for comparison and FSX runs on dx10, for even better comparison. Even though technically lockon has better graphics than fsx, take a look at crysis. Take that game and compare it to the dx8.1 engine in lomac. Its almost an entire rewrite of the engine just to get dx9.0c compatibility. Not going to happen until ED starts on their next project...and when that is dx12 will probably be the one to be integrated given ED's rate of cranking flight sims out.

Flat out, your missing textures. You probably have a navigation light mod and an afterburner texture mod that wasnt installed or uninstalled correctly. I can also see that your tail code isnt all there either...

Hmmm. You got me thinking hitman.

Textures are the likely answer.

However the problem is totally random.

Starts off fine with everything looking ok and goes weird

after playing for a while.

I have no mods whatsoever. No installs or uninstalls.

But things (graphics) have been going missing as of late.

Sometimes during online play, things like hud and radar turn into green boxes where there should be text.

First time it happened I thought I had taken a missile hit as I lost my hud

and avionics. It seemed weird at the time as there was no bitchin betty.

Not even green boxes just totally blank.

Looked at stats and I hadnt been hit at all. (Well that time anyway)

I have an ati x800 pro which I flashed to an x800 xt about a year ago.

maybe I am finally getting problems with my "cheap" upgrade.

Looking at Pilotasso's specs, I think I like his solution. ;)

Sadly it will be end of year before next upgrade.

Looks like a race between BS and my next upgrade.

Cheers

Yesterday when I played I had no white boxes, but at times I had an invisable plane except for the nav lights and a bit of each wing and the cockpit! LOL An alt tab back to the desktop and then back into the game usually solved the problem.

Wouldnt exactly call that a race...but hey, Nvidia 6800 gtx in pci-e are still pretty fast in the game. ;)

Lol. I hope you are implying BS wins :D The alternative doesnt bear thinking about.

Waterinthefuel, is your card ATI as well ?

I think that the boxes that you're referring to are the result of a video card driver issue.... I have white boxes showing up but its just momentarilly and its with explosions mainly.. I'm almost certain that this is caused by the old code as hitman suggested...

But you're issue I'm almost sure comes from your card overheating .... You might try uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling with the latest drivers from the manufacture..
