Boris Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 I have always noticed a slight clunking feeling in the pitch axis, expecially with a warthog grip attached, using standard springs and cams. This clunking was mostly absent with the Mongoos grip. I've now installed the stiffest springs and the clunking is much more pronounced, and present on both grips. It obviously get worse with more force applied. Does anyone have any experience with this and has been able to rectify it? I didn't notice any things that might be causing it, when I had the base open. Boris Posted November 11, 2018 Author Posted November 11, 2018 Alright, I think I solved it. All the while I was going crazy thinking it's the gimbal mechanism, because the problem happend with both the Mongoos and the Warthog sticks. But it seems the culprit was loose allen screws at the base of both sticks. This looseness, combined with the large force of stiff springs and an extension caused the stick to clunk against the metal "neck" above the attachment screw. Swine Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 I’m probably going to use some blue loctite on the base screws(not the red).
Boris Posted November 12, 2018 Author Posted November 12, 2018 Just to be clear, these are the screws I tightened: PC Specs / Hardware: MSI z370 Gaming Plus Mainboard, Intel 8700k @ 5GHz, MSI Sea Hawk 2080 Ti @ 2100MHz, 32GB 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM Displays: Philips BDM4065UC 60Hz 4K UHD Screen, Pimax 8KX Controllers / Peripherals: VPC MongoosT-50, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, modded MS FFB2/CH Combatstick, MFG Crosswind Pedals, Gametrix JetSeat OS: Windows 10 Home Creator's Update
98abaile Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 Yeah I had exactly the same problem when I got mine ages ago. I just assumed that whoever assembled it in the factory didn't get the torque right.
