Drag80 Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 Hello everyone. First of all I will be thankful if some one kindly tells me the difference between MIG 29 A, G and S. Secondly, In MIG29S version, I cannot lock the target even at closest ranges. In SCAN or BVR mode, the radar only picks up the target when its very close to you. Even then it does not lock the target. The A and G version do lock the target but once the opponent is very close. It does not have BVR range. Am I the only one facing this ???
FoxAlfa Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 Hello, I had a similar issue, it came down to the lock button being somehow stuck and put the radar in some odd state that didn't show anything or targets just blinking and then disappearing and showing up only very very close. Once I changed the buttons around somehow the radar started working. ------- All the people keep asking for capabilities to be modelled.... I want the limitations to be modelled.... limitations make for realistic simulation. Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a bit you realize the pig likes it. Snappy Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 (edited) Hello Drag80, regarding the differences between the -A -G and -S variant I think one of the more important points is, that the aircraft differences in DCS between the 3 are not as many as in reality. So in simple terms, for DCS purposes: The A model has no ECM and no ability to employ the R77 missile. The G model is the former east german air force variant and it features western units system , at least in the HUD and also a german voice warning system. The S model has an ECM system , can employ the R77 missile. In reality it has a slightly better radar system compared to the -A as well, but this seems not to have been modelled. This is simply for starters, if you are interested in the real aircraft version differences,I recommend an internet search into that, lots of info available. Kind regards, Snappy Edited November 28, 2018 by Snappy
