slicker55 Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 I just started playing around in the mission editor and have created a couple of custom missions to practice navigation and landing - everything working sweet so far. I have added an AWACS and can communicate with this unit over the radio. It also sends messages to tell me when it is passing various waypoints so it's up there somewhere! I can see it moving around on the F10 map and it is not set as 'hidden' in the mission editor. When I fly the mission, if I get close enough, should I be able to see the AWACS aircraft? :book: i7-5820K 3.30Ghz | Asus X99-S | Sapphire R290X | R7 240 | 16GB DDR4 PC4 2800MHz | Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD (OS) | Samsung 840 EVO 500GB SSD (DCS) | Noctua NH-D14 2011 Cooler | OCZ ZT 750W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular PSU | NZXT Phantom Enthusiast | 3 x IIyama Prolite E2473HDS 24" | 1 x Dell S2240T 21.5" Touch Screen | Windows 10 64-Bit | AMD Eyefinity 5760 x 1080 | TrackIR5 | TM Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind 1771 | Vaicom Pro + VA (Licensed) | Sennheiser Game Zero | Honeycomb Yoke (June 2020)]

slicker55 Posted December 8, 2018 Author Posted December 8, 2018 (edited) @[Cobra] Thanks... I tried orbit and racetrack using one or more waypoints and for easy reference circling directly above the isle of wight in the normandy map... Flew over there and had a good look around but no sign of it? What would be a suitable altitude for the AWACS? . Kang Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 You should be able to see it. What type of AWACS are you using? As for altitude, it should usually go as high as possible for maximum radar coverage.
skyelaird Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 @[Cobra] What would be a suitable altitude for the AWACS? . standard AWACS altitude is FL290, in my experience. It may be different in segregated airspace.
slicker55 Posted December 8, 2018 Author Posted December 8, 2018 Thanks guys for your replies I have seen the light (and the AWACS) @Kang I chose the E-3 after watching a Youtube and accepted the default altitude - I think it as 6400 (may be wrong) Anyways, I have been miscalculating the altitude as the ME is in feet and the MIG's altimeter is in meters (I think) Apologies for the uncertainty, just trying to get to grips with all this I flew my test mission again and caught sight of the AWACS once I was flying at the right altitude! i7-5820K 3.30Ghz | Asus X99-S | Sapphire R290X | R7 240 | 16GB DDR4 PC4 2800MHz | Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD (OS) | Samsung 840 EVO 500GB SSD (DCS) | Noctua NH-D14 2011 Cooler | OCZ ZT 750W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular PSU | NZXT Phantom Enthusiast | 3 x IIyama Prolite E2473HDS 24" | 1 x Dell S2240T 21.5" Touch Screen | Windows 10 64-Bit | AMD Eyefinity 5760 x 1080 | TrackIR5 | TM Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind 1771 | Vaicom Pro + VA (Licensed) | Sennheiser Game Zero | Honeycomb Yoke (June 2020)]
