Its a VERY useful tip in my opinion. :D

It would probably be used most in selected the aircraft and getting rid of those extra edges around the aircraft or whatever when selecting and copy/pasting.

Select your whole object after you've cut out the background, then click on Selection, Modify, and Contract. Pick a reasonable amount of pixels, I usually go with 1-2 and contract, then select inverse, and delete! viola, nicely edged aircraft

Is breaking the laws of gravity illegal?

If you cut carefully in the first place you shouldn't need this, zoom in up to 1000% or so, so that you can see the pixels and cut out with more detail, that way you won't need to hide errors in the edging.

Make sure to check the 'add selected area' option, this way you can select an area then another to add to the total area, but if you make a mistake you can undo the last area you added.

Id rather spend 3 hours doing the effects and background n whatnot rather than just the selection, thats personal preference though.

I'd rather be admiring the finished project then editing :P

I see your point but often to get the best result it takes a lot of time and boredom butall the little things take lots of time add up, and when you present your work to those who appreciate it you'll know it was worth it.
