Hello Guys,

I am finally going to start my simpit and had a question on Mini monitors.

I have been looking at some cheap monitors usually for car use.

They are under $50 usd ea.

I am wondering about the hit to performance and also a question on setting them up.

I want to do 3 mini monitors for my MFCD's.

My Specs.

I5-4670k @ 3.4ghz

1080ti

16GB ram

Windows 7

Running 27" 1080 monitor 60hz.

I also have a extra GTX-970 sitting around from my last upgrade.

Can I install the GTX-970 and run the 3 extra monitors from there to lighten the load from the 1080ti?. (Never tried to mix cards NOT SLI but as a second card to power the monitors)

Or just use the 1080ti as I am only running in 1080 and not 2k or 4k.

Just trying to see if the hit to performance would be bad OR if it would be worth is. Seeing the working MFCD's has me jealous.

Thanks for any help,

It's difficult to answer the question because there is a million ways to optimize a multi monitor setup. But generally speaking, since you are pushing more pixels through your card, yes, there will be an impact on performances. How much? It will depend on the definition you want to use on your MFCDs and the one for your main monitor. It also depends on the way you are arranging your monitors in the Windows displays settings. You really have to maximize the useful area for DCS to draw pixels and avoid non used (black) areas. Eventually, if the fps is not enough for you, you'll have to work in reduced resolutions.

I'm running a 34" 2k monitor and 6 sub displays. Frames will hit hard - finding a monitor with gsync will prove to be super beneficial. My frames are in the nature of 40-60 and I need to tone down a couple of settings. The fact that you are running a 1080p monitor should help you.

Even more worse than pushing pixels is the fact that you have to run your game in Window mode. So not only are you rendering your game but youre rending all your desktop processes, too. Window mode KILLS frames.

If I run in full screen mode my frames are well over 120 fps with maxed everything.
