Wait, I'd like to see your track showing the LGB actually hitting a target dead center due to ANY lasing platform...my contention is, that there IS a problem on the F18 side I haven't yet seen an actual track showing this regardless of how the ordinance was dropped...thanks

No probs on the f18 side. I can post track or video or both later tonight. Out and about for Christmas shopping now.

The mission you sent me declared type 2 no issues. You had removed all the gun ammo from the f18.

Once you add gun ammo back, for some reason jtac is requesting gun run. Not sure why that is on these targets.

Yep, they ask for cannon or gun all the time...and you can see that I have the settings for the group as AUTO/AUTO and I have tried Guided/Laser, Guided Bombs/ Laser, and even WP Laser, but no go for Type 2 if I have ANY rounds of GUN left...which, you have to admit, is very important because even with soft targets, there's no way you can say that it's logical to ask for guns, if you have let's say 50 rounds left and you have four trucks to take out

I think it’s a problem with the predator lazing or the target/weapon selection of this mission. In Wags video he clearly has 570 rounds of gun ammo loaded and had no issues getting type2.

I’ll play around tonight with some of the other jtac missions I have and see what happens.

My problem is that tgt waypoint on weapon designate is not accurate for some reason. it works when i set the targets closer to each other and manually slew the tdc near the targets.

My question is, is tgt waypoint 1 the same as waypoint 1 or is it set automaticly? confused

Thanks for sticking with this...hey, try the Stryker as a FAC..you can keep the Predator...for some strange reason, the Humvee seems to work up to a point...it's weird first it asked for cannon and then as I turned toward the target area, I saw a designate diamond on the ground...let me try to get a track

How do I use LGBs?

It should be the same thing. You select wypt then select wypt 1. Then when you press weapon designate, all you’re doing is slaving the weapons/release parameters to that waypoint. You can do this with any waypoint.

Hint: that’s why you should be careful when setting altitudes in the ME for each waypoint. You will unintentionally put your waypoint in the air. And yes the hornet will release accordingly to have the bomb go through that midair waypoint. That’s why it is imperative to check the waypoint elevation when using waypoint/weapon designate. You can fix it in game through waypoint manipulation.

It can't be the predator because that worked perfectly for the 65E...so there are no LOS problems or distance

Yep. It worked perfectly in the previous version. When I added guns to the f18 and mavEs, I couldn’t get jtac to give me anything other than type 1. (I typically load mavE x2 and gbu12 x4.)

Gave the JTAC with LGBs a try and got it to work after a few tries. Still, will probably not touch the GBUs until the ATFLIR pod is released, hopefully sometime this winter.

Created another new mission to play around, still the same issue the GBU falls well short of the target.

I have attached a track file aswell as the mission file.

The trk file includes some time warping (this is not the issue with the gbu as I have tried the mission without warping) Also I had to contact JTAC twice as i told them i couldnt comply at first oopss. Again this is not the issue as i have tried this mission about 10 times all with the same result.

I`ve watched Wags video, and I did the same, but my LGBs never hit the target and cant even lock the laser signal. What I am doing wrong? Thanks!

You could attach your .miz so someone could try and see what'S wrong... default mission editor JTAC always been a bit tricky IMO.

The problem with this video is he is using either CTLD or another script for JTAC - he isnt using default mission editor JTAC, but otherwise yes, this is spot on for helping in the event that you cant get your bombs on target. But it wont really help with the issue we are talking about with JTAC calling for gun runs.

Your designate diamond on the ground is because waypoint 1 is on the ground and over the target area - not because you are seeing the laser. :)

Something is wrong in this new version - the only type of vehicle I can get to laze now is the MQ Predator. This is NOT F18 specific, lazing for the A10C also does not work with anything other than the MQ Predator.

None of the vehicles which I have used in the past will now provide a Type 2 in effect message.

For instance - in a PG mission I have, I use a Stryker ICV to lase - this worked previously but now only provides a Type 3 in effect. I tried swapping it for a HMMWV Armament TOW vehicle, which is also Type 2 capable. No joy (only type 3.)

What is really odd is the targets you use in your mission (i'll look them up and post in this spot shortly) seem to ask for guns if you have gun ammo. I cant reproduce this with any other vehicle type that I use in my missions (although i typically dont use light armored vehicles - so by no means is my research exhaustive.)

WOW, what really makes that video important is, HE DIDN'T EVEN CONTACT JTAC !!!

He just set the codes and made sure there was a ground-based FAC and that was it !!! Or, what did I miss? Anyone???

He is using a script to provide JTAC because the ME JTAC has been so broken for so long - many folks use CTLD or MOOSE for these functions. This WILL NOT work in your game without a mission specifically using these special CTLD/MOOSE scripts to provide JTAC.

No actually the ground diamond was placed there by the FAC...reason? I forgot to place a ROE of WEAPON HOLD...so what happened when I started the FAC actually destroyed one of the targets in the group...once I edited the commands and tasks for the laser vehicle, he didn't give me the target diamond

CTLD is that a third party app? Not using them

Yep, written by the infamous Cribob. If you want to get serious about JTAC, its the only way to go.

No, you and Wags arent using his work in this mission - but the Grim Reapers in the youtube video posted are using his work.

Wouldn't it be better if they fixed the ME and no one would then have to use CTLD or Bullwinkle or whatever that moose thing is???

You are preaching to the choir - but when someone else writes and supports the crutch, the crutch gets used for a LONG time. Much of the work Cribob has done has made its way into DCS, and the servers he runs and maintains (Buddyspike / BlueFlag) are being supported directly by ED to help build a better multiplayer platform.

I assume at some point (in two weeks probably!) we will see his CTLD & SRS scripts into DCS as native functionality - but when is anyones guess.

Good, then they can hire Cribob to fix the ME

I used the standard jtac(humvee. works for me.

First error I made ...waypoint height 20000 feet ..dooh ;)

waypoint is close to target (+/- 300 meters )

did the jtac chit chat and release on waypoint.

Bomb starts to track at around 12000 feet.

Bomb landed just behind target like 2 meters and target is dead.

The real way is of course, making the waypoint from the jtac instructions. I'm just too lazy, but I'll give it a go one day :)
