Gentlemen,

So I am looking down the road and I want to get my Cougar TQS up and running for use with the Viper when its released. Yes...I know its "Two Weeks" away but I hate waiting till the last minute for anything. Soooo...

My First question is, does anyone have experience with the the Realsimulator TUSBA TQS R2? It looks like a pretty easy solution but I'd like to hear from someone actually using one.

Second...Has anyone in the Modding / Shapeways world come up with a better solution for the Idle and Afterbnurner detents in this throttle than what was originally supplied? The original solution was dodgy at best.

Thanks in advance

Sierra

Hi. I bought mine two month ago (wanted to separate the TQS and thinking for a new stick). The big change was in the TDC, much more precise...it resolves a problem I had in the X axis. The throttle seems to be more precise. I didn't had time to study the software but it looks amazing.

Another good point: the contacts in this company are very professional and friendly.

Does the TDC allow you to Press and Slew?

If you are referring to the microstick on the Cougar's throttle, yes, it can be pressed as it is being slewed around ... you will need to setup a large deadzone to avoid unwanted inputs ... I actually prefer to use it as digital axis using the Foxy software, I find it more precise that way.

I picked up a TUSBA R2 recently. Fantastic piece of hardware, no real complaints. Plug it in, calibrate via RealSimulator software, and you're good. Axis resolution is improved; I believe it's 10-bit vs the stock 8-bit of the Cougar controller.

Regarding the detents, I actually moved my idle detent to match the AB detent. Gives the AB detent a more positive feel, and push-through idle detents are generally a bad idea.

Also, look at http://cougar.flyfoxy.com/mods.php

You'll want to do most of the mods listed, particularly the speed brake housing mod. I found the aluminum foil and special soap/ash lube can be supplanted entirely by nyogel 767a. Makes for a buttery smooth throw.
