Nightsniper_1 Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 Hi all, with the new vid of the f-14, I was wondering if the refresh rate/fps rate (dont know what you would call it) for the HUD is accurate or if its a WIP, its just slow, thanks P.S. great job on the hard work being done Heatblur, definitely playing the F-14 the second it comes out i5-7600k @ 3.8 GHz, Strix 1050ti OC, 16 GB 2666 MHz DDR4 Ram, Corsair H110i, 500 GB Samsung 860 EVO SSD, Windows 10 64-bit, Track IR-5, Saitek X-56 F-15C, A-10C, F-5, M-2000C, UH-1H, F-86F, AV-8B, F/A-18C, F-14 A&B, F-16, F-15E, F-4E, P-47, Tornado, F-111, Mirage F-1, A-29 :pilotfly: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
dadunn1700 Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 Looks accurate to me. The refresh rate of the F-14A/B HUD wasn't particularly fast or smooth...but it was "state of the art" for the era the aircraft was created in.
Nightsniper_1 Posted December 25, 2018 Author Posted December 25, 2018 ok thanks i5-7600k @ 3.8 GHz, Strix 1050ti OC, 16 GB 2666 MHz DDR4 Ram, Corsair H110i, 500 GB Samsung 860 EVO SSD, Windows 10 64-bit, Track IR-5, Saitek X-56 F-15C, A-10C, F-5, M-2000C, UH-1H, F-86F, AV-8B, F/A-18C, F-14 A&B, F-16, F-15E, F-4E, P-47, Tornado, F-111, Mirage F-1, A-29 :pilotfly: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Greekbull Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 Yeah the HUD is certainly Accurate. Please pull up a few F-14 videos on YouTube. The F-14 prior to the SparrowHawk upgrade had a slow refresh rate;) Here's a couple of examples: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D | ASUS Crosshair Hero X670E | 64GB G Skill Trident Z DDR5 6000 | Nvidia RTX 4090 FE| Samsung EVO Plus 6 TB M.2 PCIe SSDs | TM Hornet Stick/WinWing Hornet Throttle and MIP | VPForce Rhino FFB Base | TM TPR Rudder Pedals W/Damper | Varjo Aero/Pimax Crystal | NeoEngress NACES Seat VFA-25 Fist of the Fleet Carrier Strike Group One(CSG-1) Discord
Victory205 Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 You don’t really fly off of the HUD per se in the F14, it’s a coarse reference, primarily used for weapons employment. Fly Pretty, anyone can Fly Safe.
Naquaii Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 It's mostly the pitch ladder and the heading tape that's a bit slow and that's because of the datarate from the navigation system to the HUD. Thus far it's not been annoying to me, and like mentioned they didn't really use the pitch ladder on the HUD as a precise instrument like in later jets. The pitch ladder isn't calibrated to match the horizon in height and behaves more like an ADI that's put up on the HUD. And the navigation information on the HUD can be toggled by the declutter switch. :-)
