SkipCarey Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 Its been awhile since .........using my warthog so whats everyone doin? in sim/game or target? Thanks in advance Skip
Pukedogg Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 I have only just purchased a Warthog HOTAS and i cannot get a grasp of TARGET so i use in game its worked out quite well so far. only thing is i find it a bit too responsive in turns etc. Pukedogg.
TechRoss Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 I find modified default.lua works really nicely and you don't have to mess with TARGET. The Hornet doesn't actually need to much binding for things you need at your fingertips all the time.

hansangb Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 In the INPUT OUTPUT, there is a HOMEFRIES sticky with just about every TARGET script already built. The pro is that you're immune to DCS changing the DIFF (seemingly) with every version. Granted, it's BETA but the GA release isn't immune to it either. Be aware, ED is in the midst of trying to change how the joystick binding works. Last time they did it, there was much brouhaha because it invalidated custom mapping. So they backed it out, but another change is coming (and much overdue IMHO). hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1

Ive never had a sim bird shake its tail like this thing does that cant be accurate feels overdone. like I said ive been away from sims for 6 years so I dont remember the proceedure for install target and I dont waanna brick mine Edited December 31, 2018 by SkipCarey

DCS has a tendency to assign trim/rudder/pitch etc to all USB devices. Not sure why it does this. What you want to do is clear out the duplicate trim. Scroll across to the right and make sure there are no duplicate assignments. And for FA18, I recall the trim working SLOWLY. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
Dafiew Posted January 3, 2019 Posted January 3, 2019 (edited) Which way should i go for the mapping warthog for FA18? Why use target when all the LUA toggles are already in the defaut file for the hornet? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Edited January 3, 2019 by Dafiew Simflyin' since 1985 :smartass:

Last time I checked, I had to manually map the air brakes, auto pilot, flaps etc. It now works out of the box with WH? hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1

No you still have to map but you don’t have to edit the LUAs since the bindings for HOTAS toggles are already included in the defaut LUA file Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Simflyin' since 1985 :smartass:

I don't think this works for DPST 3 position switches like Master Arm/Safe/Train or flaps. But I'll give it a shot. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1

TechRoss Posted January 4, 2019 Posted January 4, 2019 Ah. I don't think this works for DPST 3 position switches like Master Arm/Safe/Train or flaps. But I'll give it a shot. Some things are already there to use, like flaps, you have FLAP Switch - AUTO/HALF, and then a second mapping FLAPS Switch - Full/Half. The Probe is another one, makes it easy to map to the LASTE 3 pos switch on the Throttle. These are specifically put in for the Warthog type of switch, but alas not all controls have been done like this. If you want to add your own, then you will need to edit the lua file. For instance, I have the Gear on the EAC switch, below the flap switch. This does not have a default binding to use as a switch. If you try to use it as is, you would have to flick it up to raise the Gear, but to lower it you will have to toggle it back down and then up again, not cool. To map that, you need to find the default.lua file in C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Input\FA-18C\joystick or where you put it DCS. Make a backup!!! Right near the top you will see a line join(res.keyCommands,{ We will put our new lines under that one. For the Gear I added the following line {down = iCommandPlaneGearUp, up = iCommandPlaneGearDown, name = _('Landing Gear Control Handle'), category = {_('Special For Joystick'), _('Left Vertical Panel')}}, Now of course this line is a little different to how this is normally done. But anyway, save the file, reload DCS and you should have that mapping in your control section now. I have my Hook on the RDR ALTM switch which is coded more like most the keys will be. This is the line {down = gear_commands.HookHandle, up = gear_commands.HookHandle, cockpit_device_id = devices.GEAR_INTERFACE, value_down = 1.0, value_up = 0.0, name = _('Arresting Hook Handle'), category = {_('Special For Joystick'), _('Right Vertical Panel')}}, This should give you a Hook that works in the Up position when the RDR ALTM switch is up, when you put it to the DIS pos, down, it should drop the Hook for you. Couple things, notice at the end of each line is the comma, don't miss it out or it will break. When there is an update, you will have to add the lines back, do this before you start the game up after the update or you might have to map those keys again. In the DCS Options, under Misc, check the Synchronize Cockpit Controls with HOTAS Controls at Mission Start. Sometimes DCS forget there controls and they seem like they are not working, this helps with that, but keep an eye on the switch, if you switch it in game and it does not switch, toggle it again, them DCS will remember it for a while. I hope this help, and is actually what you were looking for. If you are looking to do more switches, let me know, I have a few done and I can try point you in the right direction on how to do you own. Ross
