AI is terrible when it has to fly low/follow terrain, with helicopters they fly straight towards mountains then pull up at the last second, breaking their momentum, making missions where you have to follow AI last hours when it should take 30 minutes.

 

sometimes they break missions because they will not land when the mission calls for it, leading to event triggers never firing.

 

Also, AI Helicopters providing fire support wander away from the AO and never engage the enemy, forcing you to try and take out an unrealistic amount of enemies by yourself, and having to reset and replay the mission/return to base and reload if you run out of ammo.

 

In aircraft, AI is completely ineffective when fighting in mountainous/hilly terrain, unable to fire on the enemy for some reason. They also seem to meander into known SAM sites when the mission calls for you to avoid them and drop their payload when they can easily defeat a launch.

 

These may be just funny, quirky bugs if it wasn't for the fact that all these bugs adds hours of frustrating unnessesary playtime for players, some of which may not have much time to play in the first place.

 

Without an ability to save midmission and these bugs that break missions an hour into it, or make it artifically difficult due to poor AI, I wish that AI could get a little bit of a tuneup to improve the content quality in the game.

I'll +1 this.

 

The AI behaviors have been a thing for a while. AI and ATC/comm improvements are both at the top of my list in terms of World itself.

 

Just the other day I sent my #2 RTB to Creech, and it starting zig-zagging, rolling back and forth, and bringing the gear/up and down repeatedly, before eventually turning into the side of a mountain and crashing. :lol:

 

Aside from obvious fixes, my wish list for improvements would be:

 

  • Ability for lead to select a takeoff type once cleared for takeoff (section, indvididual, interval). Right now you can only perform section if you start your flight hot on the runway.
  • Logic for AIs to follow and repeat a basic landing pattern. Useful for our new Navy toys and FCLPs. Even better if they could follow it off of a break.
  • Ability for AIs to follow (ghost) the lead's exact flight path. This would be handy for low levels and would solve the issues around terrain following.
  • AIs taxiing on their own once the lead has been cleared. (probably an ATC-related bug) This drives me absolutely nuts!

I can only support what is written here.

Not always I wanna play MP, often it is nice to play in SP too.

 

The behavior of the AI currently is really really bad, in so many ways.

There are so many examples what AI is doing wrong.

Everyone knows, and I think so much has been reported.

 

There are so many good thinks in this simulation, but the AI makes me totally crazy.

It takes so much realism out of the simulation, it can't be worse.

 

So please ED, invest a man for one year to fix the AI.
