Bahger Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 I am busy reinstalling or updating all my flight sim software after a long hiatus and I'm very rusty. I could re-learn how to make a custom profile in TrackIR but I'm wondering if anyone could help me out with a good profile for DCS because the three supplied profiles are too jumpy and the FOV is too unlimited. There is one TIR profile on the DCS Downloads page, by Spudknocker, but even though I have figured out how and where to install it, it doesn't show up in TIR, because it's not an .xml file, for some reason. I guess I'm just looking for a good, smooth flight sim profile. Many thanks in anticipation.
PsiBurr Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 his profile is a compressed format, you should be able to right click the download and extract it? Gruman Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 (edited) It's a .7Zip file... You need a tool (7-Zip, Winrar etc) to extract it. Removed link again. Bahger Posted January 17, 2019 Author Posted January 17, 2019 Thanks, gents, this is very helpful. I haven’t needed Winzip or WinRar for quite a few years now. I am happy to get it unless someone can send me the un-compressed file. Gruman, that Dropbox link is lines of code, not a file, or am I misunderstanding something? Again, thank you for your helpful responses.

Goa Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 using someone's else profile is absolutely the wrong way, as these profile are setup basis on viewer's distance from camera, camera position on the monitor, etc etc.... take a look here, it take 2 minutes to set it up properly CPU : Intel i7 8700k@5.0ghz cooled by Noctua NH-D15 / Motherboard:Asorck Z370 Taichi / RAM: 32GB GSkill TridentZ @3600mhz / SSD: 500GB Nvme Samsung 970 evo+1 TB Sabrent Nvme M2 / GPU:Asus Strix OC 2080TI / Monitor: LG 34KG950F Ultrawide / Trackir 5 proclip/ VIRPIL CM2 BASE + CM2 GRIP + F148 GRIP + 200M EXTENSION /VKB T-Rudder MKIV rudder /Case: Fractal Design R6 Define black
Griphos Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 (edited) That video is by the guy whose profile we're talking about. And it doesn’t show you how to do it. His profile is good. Use it. It’s titled “hud” in your list of saved profiles. Edited January 20, 2019 by Griphos
Bahger Posted January 19, 2019 Author Posted January 19, 2019 Thanks, Griphos. I'd be happy to seek out a "how to" video for setting up a TrackIR profile but I am simultaneously reinstalling DCS and TrackIR for the first time in three years, learning a new aircraft (the L-39) and new HOTAS software (TARGET for the Warthog, and, yes, I know it's not strictly necessary) so getting a small break by having a good user-made profile for TIR is welcome.
