Hovis Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 Hey there, I was wondering if there is a system going in place for communication between pilot and RIO (human not Jester). I'm aware DCS does not have VOIP or at least I'm not aware of it. My first thought is rely on SRS and a third channel (UHF, U/VHF and a third intercom channel). If this is the case is it possible to sync it to the aircraft so the crew can talk without setting a freq and just by activating the intercom in the aircraft itself? Or is that an issue for the guy that made SRS? If this is not the case is the current proposed method to work around it and make separate TS or discord channels for each F-14 crew and use SRS to communicate between aircraft. An issue I can see coming if this is the case is constant double talking when your pilot or RIO is using comms on SRS but also transmitting over TS or discord (I am definitely using voice activation to chat with my RIO) Cheers
Naquaii Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 We already have working integration for intercom (without frequency selection) via SRS. Additionally when voip is eventually integrated as stated by ED we will have a look at using that system as well.
Hovis Posted January 21, 2019 Author Posted January 21, 2019 Brilliant, can I ask how it will work? Continuous transmission / PTT / voice activation?
Naquaii Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 It's hooked up to the ICS controls in the cockpits and these can be set to either Hot Mic which is continuously on or Cold Mic which have the pilot use his ICS PTT on the right throttle and the RIO his PTT button on his left footrest. The two are independent though so the pilot could use Hot Mic and the RIO Cold Mic and vice versa.
Hovis Posted January 21, 2019 Author Posted January 21, 2019 Disregard, through your posts I can see it's either PTT or hot mic. Thanks for the help! :)
