Flans99 Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 I've been out of the DCS loop for a bit. I purchased a new computer and was wondering the best way to "move" my DCS files (and modules) to my new computer. I've heard a few things already but I thought I would be safe rather than sorry. Thanks!

Thanks! The DCS program folder can be copied as is, and placed on the new computer. It is not necessary to keep the same path on the new PC, tough the usual is /Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/ However, you will need to deactivate any StarForce-protected modules that you may have; so that you can reactivate them later on the new PC. You can also do a straight copy of your DCS settings, that are usually stored at /Saved Games/DCS/ ... tough most likely you will need to re-map the Hotas on the new PC .. to be on the safe side you could export the Hotas mappings before leaving the old PC. What specific modules do you have? Do you use the Steam or the stand alone version? Flans99 Posted January 24, 2019 Author Posted January 24, 2019 I have the stand alone. A-10C Black Shark2 Combined Arms Flaming Cliffs F-86 Bf-109 Fw-190 P-51 Spitfire IX Normandy 1944 Map WWII Assets Pack I appreciate the help. Thanks!!
Rudel_chw Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 OK, almost all your Modules require deactivation, the exceptions being the Normandy Map, the Assets Pack and the Spitfire. To deactivate, goto Module Manager and click the button that says DRM: If you dont know the serials of your modules, take the oportunity to check it and create a record of them somewhere. I've mine on an Excel spreadsheet. Then copy the folders (Program Files & Saved Games) over to the new PC, and when you start DCS it will ask for activation for each module. Best regards I am sorry to ask what may be a dumb question, but I am brand new to DCS. If none of my installed modules show "DRM" does this mean they don't need activation? Do I then simply copy across to the new PC and logon? Apologies again for being "dim" but really brand new with you guys and buried under info.

Link here. I can only say for me, I rebuilt my PC's OS and DCS system this last weekend and only re-installed a few modules and maps that were using the new system with no issues.
