bandit648 Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 Something I noticed, ED seems to be much more responsive to issues regarding modules and other aspects of the game but when it comes to performance issues they are mostly ignored. If you look at this sub-forum there are little to no issues acknowledged as being a bug. Even in the case of static weather clouds causing stuttering, which is easily reproducible in both open beta and stable release. I opened a ticket on that issue as well and it has no response. So, should we expect that ED will not look into any reported performance issues and not report them? I do understand that performance issues can have many different causes but sometimes it's the game engine itself that needs to be corrected. Worrazen Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Performance error reporting is more complicated and requires more effort to be precise, they can't label it a bug based on 3 sentences and "I got 30 fps when flying low", I'm being realistic, it takes a lot of accuracy to be certain. It's highly speculative area to begin, plus it isn't just DCS a factor, so many factors, submissions just need to have more details, tests, comparisons, and an actual video of the offending scene/section. That said, "low FPS" is a constant occurence because of the draw call costs that are just out of DCS control, it's high because there's a lot of structures and trees, it's like living in a house half filled with water, you have to deal with water practically all the time and the FPS counter is affected by so many other things as well so it's highly risky someone can mistake the root cause and the source of a drop/spike. rrohde Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 I believe ED also have their own, internal test team that provides these kind of reports outside of the public forum areas. There's likely a lot more work being done towards that end than we might realize. Yes, I totally understand and agree with this. All you have to do read through some of the posts in this thread and see that the majority of them are user created issues. However, when someone raises an issue that is reproducible under certain circumstances and provides evidence of the issue then I think that support should take the time to look into that or at least acknowledge it. In my case I found that static weather clouds set to level 5 - 8 causes stuttering. This is easily reproducible and I've described exactly how I reproduced and provided fps logging showing the dips. I would think this would be classified different than the usual "I'm getting low fps" threads we normally see on here. I believe ED also have their own, internal test team that provides these kind of reports outside of the public forum areas. There's likely a lot more work being done towards that end than we might realize. I hope so! It would nice if they were a little more transparent in regard to updates and fixes for performance. BitMaster Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 They, ED Team and 3rd party devs, use the exact same hardware as we do.
