directorguy7 Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 Loving this aircraft so far. One thing that I am curious about and wonder if its will get fixed in an update, or if its truly how the F/A-18 is used in real life. The left and right generators are ON when I first hop in the plane from a cold start. Shouldn't they be off if the plane was properly shut down the night before? Similar to the A-10.
ED Team Wags Posted February 2, 2019 ED Team Posted February 2, 2019 This is correct as is. Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/wagmatt Twitch: wagmatt System: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3729544#post3729544
Robin_Hood Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 According to real-life checklists, generators switches are checked to be in NORM before start-up, meaning they already are in this position. Also, the shutdown checklist doesn't mention them. So you really leave them in NORM unless you have a reason to switch them to OFF. The same is true in other aircraft, eg. the Mirage 2000C (ain accordingly in Razbam's module thereof) 2nd French Fighter Squadron
NeilWillis Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 I can't envisage a reason not to leave them on. When the engines stop turning, they don't produce power - effectively an off switch in itself.
Blaze1 Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 It may be an idea to have them in off position on occasion, perhaps simulating a post maintenance situation, where the switch has been returned to the normal position.

Only set to OFF if there is some sort of system electrical issue. Otherwise, always set to ON.
