MobiSev Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 (edited) Has anyone tested if it’s possible to turn the Rb15 into a cruise missile to attack enemy air bases by manipulating the BX waypoints and the special modes? I know this is kind of strange lol, but I was thinking that this could be a new use for it. Like, maybe I could adjust BX7 to set up the approach, set a different altitude for BX6 so the missile doesn’t slam into the ground before I want it to, place BX8 near the target and BX9 on top of the target. Smee Posted February 23, 2019 Posted February 23, 2019 wiki - "The RBS-15 (Robotsystem 15) is a long-range fire-and-forget surface-to-surface and air-to-surface, anti-ship missile. The later version Mk. III has the ability to attack land targets as well. The missile was developed by the Swedish company Saab Bofors Dynamics." Likely has to do with the radar on the missile and how it distinguishes ships from the surrounding water. So, likely, no, not the version that we have.
MobiSev Posted February 23, 2019 Author Posted February 23, 2019 (edited) Just give it a try and report back! Just tried it. If you put BX7 directly on the target coordinates and BX6 a little before BX7, the missile will dive down and swing into the target BX7. It is pretty good against tower type targets like command centers as long as you have exact coordinates Edited February 24, 2019 by MobiSev Modules owned: FC3, M-2000C, Mig-21bis, F-5E, AJS-37 Viggen, F/A-18C, KA-50, Mi-8, F-14A&B, JF-17

bertOC Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 I've done it and can continuously hit Tblisi Airbase, i haven't tried another place yet, just kinda tested it at Tblisi. It's not too accurate and relies highly on your altitude in relation to BX6, also the place you wanna hit can't be too close to sea level i think. My BX6 was about 3-4KM short of Tblisi in line with the BX7 & 8 placed about 10km behind my intended target. Its just trial and error i found, but the higher you release the higher the distance between BX6 and the impact point will be. When I tried it initially there was a mission on 104th with like 40 guys continuously launching out of Tblisi, but by the time I figured out how to send RB15s their way the mission changed. It definitely is possible, but not really practical.
