Another one from the spec-exec corner, also cant be fixed by software but needs silicon redesign.

Best of all, AMD and ARM are not affected.

Down with that nail, soon the coffin is closed Intel.

It gets lame.... https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/intel-procs-again-hit-by-massive-vulnerability-called-spoler.html

I'll make bet with you BitMaster. A pint of Hefeweizen that intel will do just fine. Inertia is a hard thing to overcome in technology.

Although I thought I read that Microsoft already released a patch that Google help develop? Maybe I'm conflating two different things. Honestly, my DCS machine hits a limited number of websites. DCS, Techsmith, Vectric, Microsoft for updates, and maybe Gmail. I think that's pretty much. So I'm pretty well mitigated from any day 0 vulnerabilities. My laptop would be another story though.

This vulnerability is not fixable via software updates. It will need a new HW revision and it will reduce performance. Basically you have to buy a new CPU in order to mitigate the possibility of someone to exploit it on your PC.

Do, or do not, there is no try.

the world runs on intel.

that’s not going to change any time soon.

it will be interesting to come back to this thread in a year years time and see how many of us, or the companies we work for, have switched to amd.

i’m going to go out on a limb and predict, “not many”, but we’ll have to wait and see.

My next gaming rig is AMD. The next working rig will be ARM. That's my plan, at least ;)

Windows 10 64bit, Intel i9-9900@5Ghz, 32 Gig RAM, MSI RTX 3080 TI, 2 TB SSD, 43" 2160p@1440p monitor.

The first *instant* that AMD beats Intel for gaming, I'll be on team AMD. I use my PC for mostly DCS so that's the primary concern. But to date, I've not seen any reason to go to AMD *for* DCS.

True, even if Ryzen 3850 has those said 5.1GHz it's a thingif 10 more cores justify to change mobo and cpu if you already run that fast. I dare to say we can wait for Ryzen 4xxx or Intel.

As long as ED wont use them all 6, I see little reason to upgrade only for DCS.

let's wait and see. My dollar is on team AMD for 2019.
