Help with affinity 8700k

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Whilst I've got DCS running at locked 60fps with no stutters I can't help but think I've not got things quite right regarding affinity? Although I might be wrong....

I run Lasso but not sure if it's set right.

In the basic Hornet free flight my GPU is at about 65% but my CPU is very low at like 9% ish.

Is this right? I know it's only the free flight but would've thought my CPU would be higher?

Thanks...

I have basically the same setup as you, but my CPU runs at like 18-20%. My GPU mostly at 80-95%. I run 2560/1440@75 fps (v-sync), everything at max and SSAA 1.5. Without Vsync i get well above 100 fps.

I have not set any affinity since it runs so well.

Yeah I'm running pretty high settings too to be fair, SSAA x2 & MSAA x2 etc so I'm inclined to leave things how they are as it's running spot on. Was just a tad concerned at the low CPU usage but it might be fine.

With a 8700k or better you dont need ProcessLasso or any other Affiniti Mask.

It does help with older gen CPU's , mostly I heard 5th gen v2011 58xx CPU's and such.

I did think that to be honest. Would you recommend uninstalling it? Although I do use the Bitsum High Performance mode, not sure if I even need that!?

You can keep it or even use it but it won’t get better as of now.

It won’t harm to keep it on either

if anything, you just need to make sure your affinity is split and not frying or oversaturating just one core all the time... you can use ProcessLasso or Task Manager..

not split affinity= higher single core saturation= Bad

split affinity= much easier load on more cores= Good

thes pics are just an example of splitting the one primary simulation core across three cores.. performance is rock solid and the cores never even come close to saturation no matter what kind of mission you throw at em..

8700k does not require any cpu affinity to be set as its cores are already correctly distributed.
