Recreating famous Gazelle crash from Die Hard With A Vengeance

Yea so I wanted to see if our DCS: Gazelle crashes and burns in a dramatic fashion of fire and ripped metal, as one at ending of "Die Hard With A Vengeance" (1995). Where a low hovering in IGE , Gazelle collides with with light post, which disintegrates the rotor and detonates the powerplant and fuel. Keeping in mind that the one in the film was a practical miniature shot on FX stage, with primacord, and pyrotechnics. This was before CGI era, or early beginnings of it.

 

I was kind of disappointed, in DCS version. Yes it crashed, the rotor disintegrated and airframe fell . But it appeared survivable, with only turbine on fire.

Second attempt. No drama

 

Second attempt. No drama. This time crashed with some fwd airspeed. All it did is rip the rotor ends off, and airframe was not even damaged. Not exciting at all.

That crash of yours, is absolutely tragic. Where do I send the flowers? But in Die Hard 3, East German spec op Gazelle, in IGE slow speed hover, slowly drifts into pole, ripping the rotor apart and igniting fuel. That was a miniature primed to explode with primacord. I want to see if under similar conditions, as shot in the film, I can recreate it. Thus far, that kind of crash, is survivable.
