Bloody Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 Hi folks! Yesterdey I watched very carrefuly video on YouTube done by Matt regarding SA And I found that I cannot understand few things: -why once the NCTR push button is boxed (8:24 on vid) and once not (16:57 on vid) and there is no difference in functionality of interrogation? -what is this line showing on radar DDI during interrogation (13:44)?
delevero Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 I think i can answer some of it.. Note..: In the video wags show how to turn on the D/L and he show the sa map page... However he forgot to say you also need to turn on the IFF system els what you see in the video will not work. The iff key is 3 buttons to the left of the D/L button that you turn on . He also do not mention clearly that there now are a new button in f18c named something with "depress" that you need to bind to a button on your joystick to mimic what he do in the video. ANyway regarding the video at 8:24 What wags do is that he press the "depress" button, and then it uses the IFF function to identify if its friend/foe.. The difference from 8:24 to how he do it later in the video is that when you are further than +25nm away you can "iff" and identify the other plane and see if its friend foe, however its is first when the plane come withing 25 miles that you will be able to identify it further .. example you can see if its a mig 29 or su27 ect if you fly towards it and radar beams hit the fans in the jet engine then you can identify the plane/model/type that way. The vertical line on the radar display at 13:44 show the distance of the wapon vs the radar contact.. Its like the Round circular "shoot" cue in the HUD display when you selected the aim120, but it just look different on the radar page. I hope this was of a little help ;-)
Bloody Posted March 15, 2019 Author Posted March 15, 2019 Thank you for the answers. But still I don't understand difference between NCTR on radar DDI on/off. This "depress" is a new Sensor depress button. Regarding 13:44 notice that he doesn't lock anything as well he is not in A/A MM so why it is showing and in different situations it doesn't?
Eaglewings Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 From Wag's d/L introduction video, there are two ways of doing IFF. 1. By NCTR Method 2. Mode 4 manual method You would noticed he could not successfully get the NCTR method to work because he did not lock the target up. He later corrected this in one of his mini update. So to get nctr print, you need to lock up the target on the radar.
